Hardware & Technical Custom Control Panel

So... many... shiny... buttons!

How is it possible not to press them all, instantly and always! Especially the red ones!

This is the most awesome sight since the Galaxy Map was revealed, for sure. No wonder you can't combine the two. The world is quite simply not ready for the glory of such physical representation! My hat comes off, for this is beyond words. This is... the definition of instant pushification!

Just remember there is a point of no return. Once you cross that line your family will never trust you to be alone in the company of the "normal people" again without doing something embarrassing.

I think that looks marvellous! great job.

How does it send signals to the PC then? (if you don't mind me asking)

I'm assuming it's a custom keyboard that sends the same message as if you'd pressed a key. It's just a very snazzy custom keyboard.

Looks great! Wish I had the skills to do the same.

That line is way behind me. Only forward thrust and not looking back now. :D:D

Is it normal to see this panel and think its 'normal'? lol

Kurgan, awesome work right there!

May i ask how youve interfaced the buttons to the computer? Did you hack a keyboard or use some form of usb interface?

I have decided to bump this thread up to the top rather than start a new one because I have question,or rather I need some help.

Does anyone know how to go about making something along the lines of this (The original poster, just posted this single comment and then I never saw him again)
I am not talking about the box itself which is childs play,I'm on about the wiring/power supply/LED's etc.
I want (basically) to use toggle switches, preferably on/off to be able to use during play, and I would like an LED to go on/off at the same time.I have an Arduino mega,if that's any help.
I have no knowledge of electronics,I was wrapped in cotton wool when it came to electricals when I was a kid,so I really have no idea.

It's pointless me asking the sparky's I run across at work, because I might as well ask my shoes for all the good that will do me.
Thanks in advance, and if I get no joy with this I will consider starting a fresh thread.

You start with this:

The rest is planning, drawing, design, parts list, check, check and check again. Buying the bits and the tools. Making sure you have enough space and setting to work.

Thanks,so this is similar to an Arduino right? I mean in that it will send messages to the PC and tell it I have pressed x,y,or zed.

The space isn't the problem,I have a whole ship, well most of one,but no electronics, err,or walls because I need to fit the electronics before I can fit the walls if you get my drift. No,really! :)

That is an interface between your computer and whatever you intend to use for controls.

I have not personally used it but others here have. I was given the link by them and my researches indicate it works as intended.

You will need some skill using it and more importantly, building your controls.

The reason I have not used this unit is simply I don't have the space or the funds.

Good luck.
