What I'm suggesting here is shooting for the stars, complete ship customization.
It's a little hard to explain, what I'm hoping for is, if I wanted, I could exchange a couple small internal compartments on my Fer-de-lance to add that space on the size six compartment, so I could have a size 7 shield at the expense of less space for other things. Maybe as well, I could exchange 2 medium hardpoints for 1 large, so on one side of my ship there's a size 3. Or exchange a size 2 hardpoint and add space to an internal, all as simple examples.
The options here will further allow the players to customize their ship to serve specific roles even further, even if that role isn't the ships archetype role, that's one of the things I love most about this game. Making the ship truly yours to serve you best.
