CV1 on its way... essential software?

Well, the Oculus has been an absolute mind blower so far!

Anyway, I just wanted to chip in re: Apollo 11 VR ..

https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/937027946381272/

.. I recently showed a friend of mine the first earth orbit sequence (I'll spare their embarrassment by saying who) and after a few minutes I realised they were sobbing uncontrollably, so moving had they found the experience!

Edit: while googling to try and find the name of that sequence I found the following video ... seems my "friend" wasn't alone!

Skip forward to around the 13 minute mark (and fair play to the guy for posting this on the internet).

This 'experience' has been probably the outstanding highlight of the rift so far for me. i love Elite Dangerous and am loving Project cars but the Apollo 11 experience left me in awe of those men.

It was the first thing i tried in the Rift... the lenses werent set up correctly and i had missing colors due to a wrong profile and i didnt knew how to increase the HMD quality back then... but man, it still was such an overwhelming experience... and i still get back from time to time, coming home from work and to get my head somewhere else... VR is a daily vacation.

Yes, VR is such a game changer, that it ruined playing on a monitor for me almost completely. And yes again... the guy isnt pretending, it is just overwhelming. Actually it was this video, that made me buy the Apollo 11 experience...

I'm glad it wasn't just me having that reaction to the Apollo 11 experience... Sat in the dark quietly sniffing away, glad my wife was in the next room so she didn't laugh at me.

I've had my Rift for a couple of weeks now, absolutely love it!
Did the Apollo 11 experience at the weekend, well worth a buy.

For watching movies, I'd recommend Cmoar VR Cinema on Steam, works really well, watched a couple of 3D movies on it, great experience.
Virtual Desktop is a good one too.

I really can't get on with Eve Valkyrie. I bought this, soon after receiving the Rift. Not easy to control, best with the Xbox controller, but I suck with those! Fortunately, Amazon (who I bought the Rift from) emailed me a voucher code for the game yesterday, which I wasn't expecting. I contacted Oculus, and they refunded me the cost of the game. So glad I didn't have to pay for it in the end.

Project Cars is nicely done, a good driving experience. Can't believe that my old Microsoft Force Feedback wheel is supported!

I do want to try out New Retro Arcade: Neon, looks a lot of fun creating your own Arcade, but will need some time investment I suspect!

I really like Project Cars... i really hate the driver AI though, the 'intelligence'seems non existent! I want to try Eve Valkyrie but won't be paying £45.00 for the pleasure. Basically wanted something for a quick blast, i would prefer to play CQC but every time i've tried to play, i wait around for 30 odd minutes and nothing so close it down. The cross platform with PSVR might tempt me though, big pool of players. i'll wait for a couple of weeks and see how that pans out before buying though i think.

Just watched The Rose and I this morning. Absolutely enchanting short animated film (and a Sundance award winner I believe), clearly based on the wonderful animated version of the Little Prince ..

Can't wait to see something like this done full length (although god knows how big the download would be). Another great short experience to show to friends and relatives when they come round!

I bought Aerofly FS 2 on steam today. Incredible! It is early access but if you like flight simulators then it is definitely one to buy. It is so realistic I can't really do it justice by trying to explain it, especially on final approach at Grand Canyon. Just wow!

Thanks for the tip - seems I need to create a steam account...
