Hello fellow lore-fans,

I've had a quick look through this sub-forum using the search function but I can't anything relative to my query. That may be because it's not been discussed or... well, we're all familiar with the shortcomings of the search function.

What I'm looking for are one or two approximate dates within the revised Elite: Dangerous timeline:


  • When was Core Dynamics founded? Or, if it grew out of an expansion or merger with Core Industrial Corporation, when were they founded? (According to http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Elite_Timeline they produced their first frieghter in 3219 but much of what's on that page is fan-created and/or apocryphal. I'm not even sure whether Core Industrial Corporation is itself canon).

  • When was the frameshift drive created? Thanks to the Frontier Gazeteer I know hyperspace was discovered around 2100, but I'm not sure about the FSD. (Although having glanced through the Lore Change thread I'm not sure anyone else is either).

I've done some wider searches outside of the forums but there's a lot of official-looking unofficial fan stuff floating around out there and I'd be happier with something at least semi-canon if possible. Any assistance is appreciated.

I suspect no one knows, perhaps not even anyone at Frontier. You would think, haha yes I know common sense and Frontier don't go hand in hand, that this sort of information would be readily available for all main factions, manufacturers, and other entities. However, I doubt that we'll get anything like that as IMO FD don't care.

That's pretty much what I figured. It wasn't very important. In fact it's the very definition of trivial, because I wanted it for this: :)

And I just wanted a canonical date (assuming there was one) so if I ever ran into Elite fans even geekier than myself, it wouldn't lead to this:

You could also go for a Canonn shirt to really annoy them.. :D
