I think its gone, nerfed. I scan the planet TWICE and nothing came up. I had a bookmark on the place and it is not recognized anymore.
That could be awkward for me as I was parked there when I logged off last night.

Back to the OP's point - I took a clear-save new commander out there and Dav's did not show up after mapping the planet.
Obviously, going there and scanning all six comms points means you have it in the Nav screen every time you return but I don't understand why it didn't show up after mapping.
Getting the persistent POI never seemed to work for me at Dav's Hope before anyway even after scanning everything. Might have been user error; might have been a bug. Not sure.@Stealthie - I'm curious with the new DSS method of finding Dav's Hope (Jameson's cobra, crashed conda, etc), do we still need to scan the surface data point for the persistent POI?

Well, this was an interesting exercise, have completed (10) ten circuits of the site including scanning the beacons. I really only came for the chem manipulators ( but stayed for the rest of the stuff too), ten laps/ re-logs only yielded two chem manipulators.
I'm now 250 LY from Felicity and 225 LY from my home base, both in opposite directions. Are there any nearby locations/ stations worth visitng before I leave this area of space ? Maybe a mats trader somewhere nearby ?
Yeah - Human signal reported - nothing showed on the Nav panel and no POI in the HUD even as I navigated to the right spot (been there many times with different commanders and clear-saves plus know a) how to use the northings and eastings and b) what topography to look for.
E.D.I.S.O.N. is an awesome little piece of software in situations when you only have coordinates.
Law of large numbers says that the number of really good developers is much higher outside of FD than inside of FD.It's just sad to see the community coming up with better tools and interfaces to better develop the game than the actual development team of the game. just sayin'

For a myriad of reasons... Because FD already has enough developers, because people already work for better companies, because people are unwilling to move to Cambridge, because they already have more interesting jobs, but enjoy programming smart, little things in their free time...Which is fine, so why doesnt Fdev just hire these people. I mean supposedly they are flush with cash, why not bring these people on board and do what they are doing and pay them to put it in the core game so we all can enjoy it.
That's good, I would think that's how it's supposed to work. Although, I usually skip the nav beacon assuming that the FSS does the same job.I've just landed at Dav's Hope, using my alt account that hasn't been in the system b4.
Here's what I did to get the POI to show in the Nav Panel, so I could lock onto it & land.
First I went to the Nav Beacon & scanned it, to reveal the system.
Next I used the FSS to zoom in on Planet A 5. This showed 1 Human but nothing showed on the Nav Panel.
So I went to A 5 & a little round of planetgolf with the probes, this brought up Dav's Hope in the Nav Panel, locked on & dropped right on it.
It's worth learning how to fly coordinates.
I taught my kid a couple years ago when he was like 9 years old.
Between this and geocaching and sailing he's starting to get a grip.
It's a basic airmanship skill.
