Day 64 of a broken background sim

Will : "Hey, the forum people are saying the BGS has been broken for 64 days, they want it fixed, they're getting restive!"
Dav: "Really? Fixed you say?"
Will: "Yup - they want it fixed"
Dav: <frantic typing> "Well, it's done - I fixed all the influences, they won't move again. Don't know why they want that, but if it makes 'em happy"
Will: "Cheers Dav! Have a good weekend!"

:)

Pint in the Winch while it all blows over?

Brilliant. I guess that's what really happened. :D

So when do we start to say, "Wait, this kind of wreckage is so thorough it must have been by design."
Some disgruntled employee or former employee monkey-wrenching the code? A scorched earth attempt to protect employment status maybe?

I have had an open ticket since jan 20... nothin... we have lost control, and 4 stations due to this BGS BUG, but... they ARE working on it... so they have told me

Resubmit it including the specifics Adam asked for here :

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to poke my head in and say that we do recognise that the BGS has a number of issues that we are looking to address. We’re currently in the process of investigating fixes for some of these issues and work is ongoing to return to a state of stability.

More specifically, we are currently looking into:

  • The balance between the different activities, for example, how much Influence trade activities provide compared to that of missions.
  • Ways we can decrease the number of active conflicts (Wars, Civil Wars, Elections) and the impact conflicts have on the BGS.
  • How the BGS trends away from factions being stuck in Civil Liberty and Investment states.
  • Finally, we are also investigating player reports that their actions are not resulting in the results they are expecting during a conflict. We’d like to thank you for providing numerous reports on this and any additional examples that you have encountered will provide us more data for our ongoing investigations. Please report them with the following details:
    • The system
    • The factions involved
    • The dates of the conflict
    • The actions performed including the name of Commanders performing them
    • The expected results
    • The actual results

We understand that ongoing issues with the BGS are not ideal, and the impact these issues have on Commanders and factions, and would like also thank you for your patience as we investigate these issues.

We currently do not have an ETA on when these issues will be fixed, but will try to keep you updated on the progress.

Thanks,
Adam

If you are worried about other factions reading it there's also this :

Hi Commanders,

Due to concerns of revealing delicate information regarding BGS tactics, it would be great if you all continued to create threads, however, we understand that this is information that you may not want to be public knowledge. As such, if you would like to submit the information Adam has asked for here, but are worried about the public nature of a forum thread, then please email our wonderful Community team here community@frontier.co.uk as they will be able to confidentially convey this information to Adam.

Take care, Commanders! See you in the black.

Also if you read this thread there's upcoming forum improvements some of which are intended to help with bug reporting/tracking.

Tin foil hat time.

FDev don't want us playing the BGS, so they're going to take away our toys, break them, then give them back to us.

the BGS sticks occasionally, we don't usually get an explanation as to why. This is therefore likely unrelated to the other bugs plaguing it.

Day 75. Things are worse.

BGS is not far from getting on the Powerplay-CqC-MC train.

I think the New BGS is riding First Class on Bug Airways currently with an eye for Frequent Flyer Gold Status. The longer it remains inconsistent and that people suspect its inconsistent, the harder it will be for FD to correct it with the popularity = time spent fixing formula they use.

Sorry - didn’t mean to derail the topic.
Can one of the clever folks who are active in-game explain to me Factabulous’s post?
I assume that the tick is stuck, but it reads like “stuck for days.”

Was there ever a tick stuck for more than a day previously?
I seem to remember a bad patch update that had a two day hiccup - or was that this current chapter when it launched before Christmas.

We had conflicts stuck for 2 to 4 weeks (depending when they started) over the holiday period and into early January. Now, ironically, conflicts (and expansions) seem to be the only things that still move.
