Well yes, more highlighting how well they've got the AI working in such a tight space. They can always tweak it to proper OPs once its working well.

Shame the same can't be said for their spellchecker:

I know everyone else is more excited about new plane modules, but this South Atlantic Map Pack is really peaking my interest.

Here's hoping we get some free UK Harrier variants bundled in.

Back on topic. DCS2.5 struggles in VR with my gtx 980. I know a lot of flight Sims are CPU bound however I am hoping my i7 5820k at over 4.2ghz should be ok. Does anyone here have a 1080ti and play this in vr?
I am planning on getting an 1180 and hoping it will be flawless at full bubble in vr however maybe I expect too much
2080Ti is barely enough to power the Pimax 5K for this game. The early review i saw was probably running full details though... Maybe with 2 cards and per-eye rendering (which is technically feasible, but i have yet to see it implemented) ?
It runs correctly on a Rift with a 1080Ti but you suffer from the lower resolution.

The Persian Gulf map was in large part chosen to act as the setting for DCS: F/A-18C Hornet combat operations. Conduct air-to-air and air-to-ground operations over a huge, detailed portion of southern Iran and many of the Persian Gulf islands. New additions coming to the map in time for the pack include the SA-2 and Rapier surface-to-air missile system, the HY-2 Silkworm anti-ship cruise missile, the Aldar Headquarters building, the Sheikh Zayad Grand Mosque, and oil platforms. Free Weekend Results
This past weekend we ran our first Free Weekend, and we are ecstatic with the great reception! The Free Weekend was a great way for many of you to experience the great quality and value put into the Hornet, Persian Gulf Map, and Su-33, and we hope you’ll consider making a purchase.

DCS World Update
Due to both an Open Beta and Release version of DCS World being released last week to support the Free Weekend, there is no update for this week. However, on 10 October we will release the updated MiG-29 Fulcrum for Flaming Cliffs 3! This will include a Professional Flight Model (PFM), updated cockpit, and several new cockpit system functions. This will be a FREE update for Flaming Cliffs 3 owners! For those that do not own Flaming Cliffs 3, we will also make it available as a separate purchase.

Next week will also see new improvements to the Hornet, such as the air-to-air radar performance.

DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Coming to DCS World!
Our next warbird coming to DCS World will be the Focke-Wulf 190 A-8 Würger (Strike) of the German Luftwaffe. Designed by Kurt Tank in the 1930s, the Fw 190 was a single seat German fighter powered by a powerful BMW 801 radial engine. When first deployed, it provide largely superior to its main rival: the Spitfire Mk.V. This in turn led to the development of the Spitfire Mk.IX. We look forward to some great online dogfights between the Fw 190 A-8 and the Spitfire Mk.IX!

Capable of both aerial and ground attack missions, the A-8 model entered production in February 1944 and included thicker armor and improved engine design. We see the “Butcher Bird” as a great addition to the stable of DCS World War II aircraft and will be a perfect fit for the Normandy map!

In parallel, work on the P-47D is progressing well on both art and creating the flight model based on virtual wind tunnel data.

Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team

Well, I spent 70 EUR for the Hornet on Steam last week and already own the SU-33. Where is my free Persian Gulf map now? ;)

Random musing time, something I've been wondering a few times: is the F-14 objectively gorgeous, or is it a Top Gun generation thing that younger generations will just dismiss in favour of the (utterly boring) F/A 18? It really feels unique and beautiful in a kinda unique way just like the curves of the Flanker, but maybe that's just movie nostalgia talking.

I think arguments over aesthetics will go out the window the moment the first 100nm kill with a pheonix missile occurs on a MP server.

Or when six players fall out of the sky with no warning due to six missile strikes in one fell swoop.

A variable wing, high speed, high altitude, twin engine carrier borne fighter that can track and kill multiple targets from 100nm away. And it looks like a great white shark.

Man I can’t wait to finally get an accurate representation of this aircraft, and with carrier ops I’m happier than a pig in poop.

I hated Top Gun, but I love a good coop flight sim. And Aim 54s. Apart from that - the swept wing action and carrier capability make it an interesting plane for sim interested players.
Gorgeous is - well - subjective. I have no idea how people can call the A 10 ugly. It's not ugly, just unconventional and very interesting.

As an aside, A friend of mine has been wanting me to do CAS/CAP in ArmA 3 on a server he runs.

Is it weird I have less trouble with carrier landings in DCS than I do there?

Heh, I don't know for carrier landings, but I have a far easier time with low hover, taxi and landings in the DCS Huey than in any ArmA helicopter.
