December 10 waiting thread

I am so hyped for this. Im certain we're getting raptors climbing out of fences! New vids showing the new fences show anti climb things at the top of them.

Medium fence has extra electric wires on top. The heavy fence has got spikes like the jp3 fence the spinosaurus breaks through.

Climbing wouldn't work in this game anyway. The power would have to be off for them to be able to climb then fence. The only way they would know if the power was off was to jump on the fence. Either fence climbing would have to be something that only happens when the power is out or they would have to constantly jump on the fences to test it.

When they touch the fences in this game they usually break them.

Also I imagine there is a lot of animation issues there.

Actually, I think it could be done. There is some internal trigger for dinos to head straight to open gates or broken fence sectors. I think some similar lure could be implemented for raptors to be attracted to powerless fences.

Regarding animations, only two would be needed, wouldn't it? They either succesfully climb and jump out or they receive a shock, if the power is restored before reaching it.

I think you're thinking Pteranodon... there's no such thing as a "Pterodactyl"...

What's the point of anti climb fence tops?
Raptors are supposed to be smart. In the movie the Rex even regularly checked to see if the power is on.

Raptors climbing and being a unique threat is a much needed feature for this game.

I agree, I mean I'm no games dev but with that kind of logic it does give the impression it could be done. The 4Chan leaker who keeps getting proved right on many key features said frontier were working on revised escape mechanics so I'm hopeful that will feature as part of this update or one soon after. Raptors in the films show they're able to jump quite high off the ground, so while I'm not fussed for the climbing (I think that's only being talked about cos of JPOG and while cool is still a bit unrealistic), I do think frontier can do alot to make the escapes a little more unique to the type of dinosaur that is uncomfortable and the raptors do need a little more love in this game given they've been so key to every JP/JW film so far.

In my mind I think it would be cool to see them attempt jumping the fences with outcomes something like:

Light steel: Attempt a jump, fail, attempt jump 2, clear and escape.
Light electrified steel: Attempt a jump, fail with shock, attempt jump 2, fail with shock, give up.
Heavy steel: Attempt a jump, fail, attempt jump 2 (maybe with faster run up), fail, attempt jump 3, clear and escape.
Heavy electrified steel, & electrified concrete: Attempt a jump, fail with shock, attempt jump 2 (maybe with faster run up), fail with shock, attempt jump 3, fail with shock, give up.

Or even something else which would be cool, is if the power is out, maybe they can jump at the enclose gate switches, which opens that gate and they escape by 'learning to open doors' as it were, maybe that's actually a cooler way to escape and easier to program/animate too! OK, please frontier can we have this if not the jumping/climbing???

The Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus and Corythosaurus are already based only on the JP3 versions. So we have those already.

There's also the Lost World Triceratops which is slightly more slender than the JP1 version. Otherwise it's pretty similar.

I just want to post this before someone comes along and says it. NO the raptors did not climb fences in JPOG.

The easiest way to do it is when you have something like a power outage you would get a message saying the raptors have climbed the fences or

It's not that simple. There is a lot of physics that go along with all that jumping.

I wonder if we will see the TLW Triceratops?

People also seem to have forgotten about the Gallimimus. The current one is the JW version. Hopefully we get the JP version.
