decision team backers read here

I was toying with an idea.we are nearly all backers here, I am one of them.I could not give more than a certain sum, so actually I could not be in the private decision members forum.I think though that the most of us would still partecipate to the making of this wonderful game.I think that a solution would be making a subforum where all of us can post their suggestions, and some of the backers who are decision team members would be appointed to be our ambassadors to the devs. They would have the duty (and the pleasure) to select the most appealing and interesting ideas and bring them to the devs.Sounds good?

Edit: I know that a similar topic exists already, but I think that a subforum would be more tidy and allow discussions on a single topic rather than losing yourself in tons of posts.

There will be a backers forum and a design decision forum.

Your ideas will be heard regardless of whether FD did this or not - I, as well as others, will regularily speak in the backers formum promoting ideas and giving credit for it to the originator.

Don't stress :)

If you would like to suggest some broad areas of discussion, I will make a range of threads where you can make suggestions and discuss options for elements of the game. I'll keep the original post updated with these suggestions and hopefully be able to give you some news on development of that specific aspect of the game as well (further into development of course). ;)

This is what this forum is about as I see it.

No need for a subforum IMHO.

Not quite - this is simly the Elite Dangerous forum one which will become even more crowded upon general retail release.

There will be a separate backers forum (for all the KS pledgers) and a separate one for the Design Forum. (Plus, I believe, one more for the book authors to keep in touch with Michael and to help each other)

No stressing you or others intended, as I dont have much to propose and I dont care if I get credit or not.My intention was pointed at tidying the things, not at making easy irony Thanks for your kind reply.

Even the smallest of people have valuable things to say - a cleaner at my old place won an award and $20K for suggesting a minor change to how people used paper in the office that saved the company millions. She was quite happy as I am sure you can imagine.

I would care if I suggested something and another took credit for it .. annoys me that it happens in the real work place so shouldn't happen here either.

Thanks for your kindness, as Liqua stated the best is to wait for the final forum structure, and then we will propose those topics:)

Give credit where credit is due :)

I am sure that alot of the DDF ppl and the private backers forum members will be reading all forums and will pick up the good thread(ideas) and bring them up to the relevant forums so the good ideas dont drown.

At least I know I will try :)

Other than the obvious 2 new sub-forums to be introduced we will largely be playing it by ear. But there are definitely a bunch of new things I would like to introduce as soon as possible. I definitely think the forum will get too cluttered with everything under one category, I'm just trying to decide the best way to fragment it right now.

I think Michael was going to look at this too Ashley. Great to have this as a problem though!

Hi Ashley,
I wouldn't start with too many separate sub-forums to start with - you can always add more later. But a separate sub-forum for "Feature Requests - Design Ideas" might be quite good for all.

I'd imagine later on there will be a need for "Gameplay - FAQs/Hints etc", "Tech Support", "Modding" etc but IMO that would be overkill right now.

Id like to see something akin to the following;

Sub Forums
General Discussion
DDF
Private Backers
Writers Forum
Tech Help (thinking more for when it goes live)
Suggestion Forum

Etc

Just makes it a bit tidier, for exmaple i logged on this morning and there were 5 pages of threads i hadnt read, (in 24 hours) LOL..

I second that.

I'm so impressed with the people on this forum, everyone has a passion and one goal.

:D

I'll try and change the forum structure today. To start with I'll just start with general chat and something for elite fiction/fan-produced works. The pledger forums will be step 2.

While you are at it, and if you have time, could you consider plugins that support tablet and phone forum reader apps. Not sure if any exist for the Frontier Forum software, but it would be nice if they do.
