I’ve seen some smart people, Who like to profess how covid could not have affected production. And what is the goal here?
Is disproving this going to somehow make things better? Make Fdev apologies and speed up
Production? Or that they hurt you and you ‘must’ hurt them back?
Oh clever you for pointing out that the pandemic isn’t the one an only cause. Do you want a pat on the back?
It’s arrogant and callous to assume you know better than an active pandemic, especially when the UK is exhibiting a mutation of C19 and its cost the lives and livelihoods of many.
I’m happy to hear that you appear to know of the health status of the staff and their friends and family are in great physical, Psychological and economic states.
Even in your experience that work can continue,
In my experience has been the reverse when irreplaceable workers have to take time off to take care of their nearest or temps coming in to replace the replaceable juniors but the onboarding and getting up to speed takes weeks all the same.
For example a few weeks delay to put out a alpha build for the PC is not a problem,
But enlighten me, how is the vetting process on the consoles these days for newly submitted builds, days? Weeks?
Or is it still roughly 3 Months?
Sorry for the aggressive stance against community members, but seriously what do you wish to achieve in either case of the pandemic being the whole truth or not?
Fdev can delay as much as they like. I’ve paid years ago, and I’ve waited my whole life for the full scale of from space to walking on foot experience since the c64 era, I can wait some more.
It’s upsetting, sure, but rest assured it’s for everyone’s best.
If you still feel grumpy, go wait for star citizen instead!
That restrictions can impact the product roadmap is not in question I think. What’s being debated by some is whether there has been a change in restrictions that can be qualitatively demonstrated, at least theoretically, to further impact progress in a way that significantly pushes forward the release date past an estimation that already had restrictions factored in.
Personally, I don’t see how it could be the primary factor in the postponement of the console release by six months or more. Which is only to say that it remains to be seen if or how that could be the case, and not that it’s necessarily not the case. Without inside information though, it’s all speculation, but I find the scepticism to be fair at this point.
I’ve pre-ordered Odyssey on Steam, and I’m fine to wait for a build that’s ready to be released, whatever the cause of the delay may be, even if I’d purchased it for a console, and particularly after the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle.
Having said that, if the more impactful reason for the delay is due to challenges with releasing an acceptable version for consoles, perhaps even related to the issues faced by CD Projekt Red, I’d prefer for Frontier to come out and say that, rather than putting it all on the restrictions. I’d still have no problem waiting, but I’d be happier with the upfront communication.
Some people may have exhibited bitterness or pettiness in their criticism and scepticism, but I don’t see the problem with hashing it out while we wait either way.
