Delete Save, Keep Friends?

Just curious if I was ever to delete my saved game (i.e. restart over) would I keep the in-game friends list, or does that get wiped too?

Also, in restarting do I retain the same CMDR name, or get an option to rename CMDR at that point?

You get to choose a new name. Not sure about friends list.

I think you loose the friends.
You can keep the same name (if no one else sneaks between the moment of cleaning save and starting a new commander and takes your name), but you can also choose a new name. Because of the last one you will loose your stored friends I think, not sure though.

I reset my 2nd account all the time. Friends list is saved, although if you change your name they may not recognise you and remove you from their side

Recently reset the save on my main account (again) — as mentioned, you keep your friends list.

You also keep any private group created/joined.

I can confirm that this is the case.

A PG that you have already made, now has your new commander name - members are still retained.
