Demographics: What's the average CMDR age?

Looking through the pages it seems like the average is somewhere between 30 and 40, more leaning towards 40 ...
I expected this, because most people i know in my age which i met are more attracted to shooter games, mobas, whatever and see games like Elite more as "boring".

Well, I am an anomaly with my few 25 years on my clock !

But how many of those were spent at FTL speeds with all the associated time distortion effects

Old enough that I can't instantly recall my age - I have to calculate it. I can't say whether this is due to a subconscious block to avoid remembering how old I am or just a general dulling of the aging grey matter. Perhaps both.

I'm 47, I played the original Elite on the BBC when I was a teenager so I'm at the young end of the older generation the OP describes.

Problem here is that these polls tell you the age of forum users which is not necessarily the same as people playing the game.

I'm not quite old enough to have listened to the Goons in the fifties (though I was around for much of the decade) but I enjoyed the Telegoons in the sixties. The bit above comes from Spike Milligan's Q series in the seventies, when I could still see the funny side of being old.

I was in my early thirties when I played the original Elite. Now I'm playing Elite Dangerous, and am fourteen gone to seed.

The average age of gamers will continue to rise. I can't see myself stop gaming because I am getting older. If I enjoy gaming at the age of 44 (soon to be 45) I will likely end up enjoying gaming when I am 65 and 75 too, as long as I have the mental faculties to do so that is.
