Despite X hours in the game, I have never...

I'm just wondering, is the Thargoid War the only bit of content in ED that's no longer available really? It's quite unusual for this game to have content that's no longer available.
If someone missed the War, that's it, they'll never experience it again. Quite a unique situation for ED I think.

I'm positive they will be back. Titans, the whole shebang.

I haven’t
  • Visited Beagle Point or Rackhams Peak
  • Owned or flown either Scout
  • Done any on foot engineering
  • Unlocked all the ship engineers, not bothered with the one in Sol
  • Done PP
  • Deliberately played the BGS
  • Committed piracy
  • Unlocked anything Guardian other than the FSD booster.
  • Flown an SRV any distance successfully
  • Done any form of multi crew
  • Called the Fuel Rats, I have died from lack of fuel before I had heard of them and been refuelled unofficially
  • Refuelled a player
  • Ticked off all entries in any sector of the Codex
  • Been the first to find anything in the Codex

I meant in the context of that storyline developing over 2 (or was it 3?) years.
While the war proper was started on 29 November 3308 with the arrival of Taranis and lasted for two years until the destruction of Cocija on 18 December 3310, I would say it all started with Adamastor, which was I think Halloween 2020*. Salvation Damnation shenanigans and all that started from there. A truly long, slow burn :)

*Until then, Thargoids were just out there in the background. There were a few skirmishes and passive aggressiveness but that "cold war" never really warmed up before all the Azimuth's misconducts and ethically questionable research came to light and the man responsible appeared on the scene.

I've not visited quite a few of the Galactic sectors - maybe one day!
I'm certain I saw a GGG not long after I started playing, some 100's of light years below galactic plane, under the bubble. (I didn't know it was anything unusual then)
Not seen most of the original Bio or the new
Never discovered a ringed ELW

Can't think of anything else I may have missed ATM, maybe more later.

I am absolutely certain that one day you will be in a bar at one station or another and see the scars on the face of the player next to you. You will ask him how did you get those?

He'll tell you all about the war, the battles, the pain, the rebuy screens, all the suffering that took place. He'll tell you about the rescues, the passengers stolen by the thargoids, the failed attempts to retrieve the helpless prisoners.

"There isn't enough root beer in this bar on any planet or station to make me forget all of that" he lamented as he took another sip of his drink.

And then he'll turn slowly towards you and ask "What did you do during the war?" Imagine his reaction. And then he'll slowly think about it and then add "Wait until the Guardian AI show up."

Did it look like this:

Been looking for years and never found one yet

Inspired by a few recent threads and posts by various people I decided to make a list of rather popular things in Elite that I've not done yet, despite my well over 7k hours in the game.

Here goes then. Despite 7k hours in the game, I have never:
  • Progressed through any Navy ranks for both sides
  • Used any of these ships:
    • Alliance Challenger
    • Alliance Chieftain
    • Alliance Crusader
    • Asp Scout
    • Federal Corvette
    • Federal Dropship
    • Federal Gunship
    • Imperial Cutter
  • Been to Mitterand Hollow
  • Seen planets colliding
  • Been to Beagle Point
  • Seen a Green Gas Giant
  • Pirated another player
  • Unlocked all of the engineers in the Bubble
  • Unlocked all of the engineers in Colonia
  • Got any Powerplay module
  • Solo'd a Thargoid interceptor above Cyclops
  • Unlocked all 3 Guardian SLF's (I have 2)
  • Done the Ram Tah's Guardian Obelisks mission
That's all I can think of for now - and that's just on my main account. I've barely touched my 3 alt accounts in the last 10 years :ROFLMAO: . Please never shut the servers down FDEV, I have SO MUCH LEFT TO DO! The list is probably longer tbh, just nothing more "popular" that people usually would do in Elite comes to mind at this late hour.

Post yours! (Or just put "I've done it all" if you have :) ).
Out of those, I've not done Beagle Point (and already know I will never do it), seen planets colliding on Youtube only but not in-game iirc, same for the Green Gas Giant one. I have attempted but never completed the Ram Tah mission (and never will now).

Apart from those, I've done all the above and various other things, in some cases several times over (due to multiple CMDR wipes over the years).

I have about 2k fewer hours on you, so I'm genuinely curious what you did actually do in all that time, CMDR rootsrat :p

Hi :)

I'm certain I saw a GGG not long after I started playing, some 100's of light years below galactic plane, under the bubble. (I didn't know it was anything unusual then)

Fat chance of me recognising a green gas giant , I'm quite colourblind between the greens and brown and red spectrums, so I've most likely seen one but not recognised it as such.

I've not...
1. Killed another player in combat intentionally or otherwise.
2. Been to Sag A, (though I've been to Colonia).
3. Played in a group other than general 'meet ups' in space in open.
4. Done any on foot engineering.
5.Taken part in the recent Thargoid war (I'm intentionally trying to keep my commander on a friendly level if that might count in some future constructive confrontations ;)).
6. Hired the fuel rats assistance (I've just died, lonely and forgotten in deep space, I like steep learning curves! :p).
7.Ttravelled around a planet in just the SRV.
8. Met up with any other Alien Civilisations in face to face encounters.
9. Seen or heard from the Golconda or it's crew since it left the Upaniklis System 🤨
10. First discovered a black hole.

I shall try and add to this list as time and gameplay allows! :)

Jack :)
