I thought it was a great question to choose. Yes, it's an awful question, but it expresses a lot of the sentiment you see around the boards and helps silence them. The answer was terrific, with David giving a sensible and almost scolding description of the reality of gaming (as opposed to the hyperbole in the question).

What we haven't seen much of in video diaries since the kickstarter project is new in game footage. Screenshots are cool and all, and the team are doing great work but can't wait to see some game footage.
I am well aware of me asking for the feature reveal to be released cause I'm dying to see what they have to show us, but this week is probably not the right time to do it. Especially not this thursday! I have a feeling that the "internet" is going to be somewhat preoccupied with something else.

I was hoping for just a little bit more from this update, it had been 2 months since the last update .. I REALLY want to see some in game footage (of any sort) ... make my dream come true !!!! cheesy grin !

Personally I am not expecting any in game footage any time soon. I just watched x-rebirth and Star Citizen footage and there is no doubting their visual impact. XR is a touch garish to my eyes and there is no doubting the beauty of SC's ships. Releasing something now ED would need something visually comparable otherwise it would be in danger of being perceived the poor relation which could impact share price.
For me ED is not just about pretty ships and space flight although they are important, its the immensity and evolving nature of the galaxy that is the USP and that is so hard to capture to a newbie in a short video.

I agree to some extent ..E: D is probably not going to look as nice, at this point as X:R, but X:R is out in November .. I doubt that the E: D 'Alpha' will be out by then .. SC isn't out untill 2015 ...
This isn't about comparing graphics .. Each game has a style of their own ... I would like to see where the dev team are at now with E: D,
I don't care for SC or X:R achivements in graphical development .. I just want to see the game I have been waiting over 20 years for in action ... it isn't too much to ask ...
If I had payed for SC in the kickstarter phase I would be happy with the updates .. too many to be honest, but still .... I didn't .. I payed for E: D and I want the best game possible ... I would, however ... Like to see some in-game footage ...
I am sure it is coming soon ...
To those at Frontier Developments ... don't worry about the competition .. you have the greatest game at your fingertips ... Make it so!

Although I'm really looking forward to Star Citizen and all its exquisitely modeled detail I've seen nothing from it as marvelously evocative as the videos we saw in the ED Kickstarter campaign. The Scavenger Hunt clip just makes space look so thoroughly mysterious and the exploring of it so tantalizing. If Frontier can continue to present the same aesthetic I don't think they need to worry about comparisons with SC.

Thats your intention, but footage will be seen by many with VERY DIFFERENT point of view!
FD did show us that they are no BIG SHOWTIME people. I am quiet sure that they are working RIGHT NOW MORE on the CORE OF GAME AND THE GAMEPLAY witch is FAR MORE IMPORTANT, then on fancy graphic.
Shiny graphic is easy to implement any time. They are many games in the market in all genre that have nice graphic, but still they are dull....
O.k. you compare SC/CR with ED/DB.
SC is pure HOLLYWOOD, it will be a true blockbuster. CR did ALWAYS push the hardware to the limits f.e. with the WC series and it was always extremely nice looking if you had the newest hardware. CR is also a very good promoter. He will do the same again. SC will NEED the newest hardware in 2015 to get the millions of polygons running and shining. That's totally o.k.
ED is different, we are looking for a game that give us the ELITE feeling that we had back in the 80's, or 90's for the sequels. Perhaps this is impossible because we are older now... but we still hope....

I would like to get footage of ED twice a day
!!But we will have ED beginning of 2014..... (cant wait for the alpha... only 5 months
) and SC backers have to look their cool videos until 2015- Status
