Dev Diarys after Odessey Release?

The discovery scanner series are great, so whilst I imagine the dev diaries will be quite different, they do show FD can provide insight in entertaining ways. Let's hope something continues after odyssey, we need more communication that's for sure.

Who says there will be a post-Odyssey roadmap?

If ED makes money then it will be kept alive :D

FD are transitioning to a different model of development with ED, it will be very interesting to see how they communicate future directions.

Indeed!

It wouldn't be a big surprise to me to be told it is the final chapter of Elite: Dangerous - particularly if the new DLC is not spectacularly successful :)
(From a personal perspective, if the main content is FPS I don't think I'll be buying a copy for my main account, let alone the 2 alt accounts)

It would be quite sad if it was- considering that so much of what gave it life was stopped with poor communication (as in, rather than being honest and saying Galnet is now over you dangle the carrot of "at this time" etc).

It would be very sad, I really like this game, warts'n'all, and have spent many more hours nailed to my chair in spaceship & SRV/SLF than in any other game I've played probably by a factor of 10... (I won't bias it in VR favour, I've probably played more hours pancake anyway!)

Taking notice of the 'withdrawals' from both game and community involvement, I have a distinct impression that ED has become the 'albatross around the neck' for Frontier, it has been very successful financially (from their own Stock Market communication) yet appears to have been pared down to minimum effort during the development of Odyssey - which appears odd to simple little me, as DLC needs an engaged playerbase to be particularly successful I'd have thought.

If this DLC is not truly 'game changing' in both 'filling' the placeholder mechanics as well as delivering awesome gameplay, thus re-energising current players and bringing in a worthy flock of new players the revenue raised may not be sufficient to make the game commercially viable.

This is my assessment as well. KS promises pushed ED in fun directions that FD could not or were unwilling to sustain. My biggest worry is that EDO will not be an update that encourages synergism across the whole game and is just another box within a box.

My other worry is that despite new enthusiastic CMs, its still announcing the announcement stuff, there is no strategy or true engagement. KS was perfect with a screenshot and short written interviews. These days its all sporadic, and very pre-packaged- I assume because FD are now a big mega corp but ED has lost its soul.

How''s about they fix what they've broken now or many years ago and never bothered fixing, then we start worrying about what might and might not work in the next "up"date?

Because they sure seem to be unable to chew gum and walk at the same time at this point, the way I reckon.
