Why don't they exist anymore? You do them for Planet Zoo, FDev and you also promised to return them after 2.0 dropped. Nothing so far.

Just a reminder that you can do it and that there is no reason to go back to regular dev updates and also that there is still no statement available explaining why there hasn't been a single dev update until today despite announced otherwise.

That's almost 4 years late!

As far as I know the release of Planet Zoo is a bit closer than the New Era.

I'd also love to get at least some hints about the 2020 update, but it is what it is.

A developer diary would probably read like this:

Dear diary,

Today was a good day. I didn't read the forums.

I would like to see the dev diaries return, or some similar regular progress updates/sneak peeks.

But I also think that for the vast majority of customers, who own the base game, or base + Horizons any new feature or functionality is a bonus.

I would like to know what is going on though.
