I'm going to push back a little here: nobody in the CM team has any say as to what they get to communicate. Arthur is just the guy who is paid to tell us what the higher ups want him to say. If they first tell him to promise us X and Y, and then tell him to not do it anyway, that is what he has to do. Don't shoot the messengers, shoot at the guys behind them.It is so disappointing to see the Community Management Team of a game I love and play to death, treat the player base so shambolically (except Sally - she is awesome!).
No.3...... when Dav Stott talked of his order to as many team members as he could muster; 'Tomorrow we BAKE!' (as in a concentrated period of time and frenetic work with as many hands on deck as possible)... they then identified for themselves, now unknowable numbers of planets/moons/bodies to hand place assets/visual artifacts.So....
- Improvements to lighting - We fixed it!
- Degraded terrain textures compared to Horizons - We're still working on it.
- Planetary features that appear to repeat - We don't know how to fix this.
- Anarchy factions and the BGS - We think we've fixed it.
- FPS performance in Odyssey - We're still working on it.
Is that right?
Cheers,
Drew.
I am 99% sure they simply dont want to spend time on it. There was a brief moment where they considered it, years ago, and thats it. On a list of priorities it doesn't make their top100 and they barely have the resources for the top3.Sorry, all times been spent this month on previewing tomorrows stream with the same information.
I think it would be easier to extract holy texts from the Vatican than getting FD to talk and take action with Powerplay.
It don't go any higher than Davy. And he went silent. Ok, ok I'm off.I'm going to push back a little here: nobody in the CM team has any say as to what they get to communicate. People play Star Citizen - that isn't a reasonable game either. Happy days for you if you enjoy it. I'm telling Frontier that I believe that releasing it was an error and that it makes no sense in a universe building context. All they have done is release an extremely poor facsimile of an FPS game in boring and repetitive instances which add nothing to lore, environment or a feeling of population. It is like they have just created these FPS arenas that you drop into for some pew pew and that is frankly crap.Unwind Odyssey ? Why ? No !
Well seriously... 5 weeks after launch, a rollback would probably do more harm to the game than carrying on in addressing its issues.
Personally, except for the remaining bugs and performance issues, I find odyssey more enjoyable than Horizon now (which was not the case 3 weeks ago).
Have you tried odyssey recently ?
Can't sell hope if you don't make any promises.FDev wishing they were more like CIG:

I suspect Odyssey may not even GET to consoles with how badly it's handling on the PC. There are obviously some serious issues with it. Sony I think would be unhappy with it at present.Do you suspect the beta phase will continue past the release for consoles?
Good Damnit, And there was me thinking it couldn't get any worse. We were already on page 3 when you posted this, you've missed so much?!?!?!![]()
To be honest, people "test" Star Citizen and pay for it. And they are well aware of the state of this product "in many cases deplorable", but they know the details and details of this deplorable state. Nobody hangs noodles on them.To be fair, people 'test' Star Citizen, and pay to do so. It at no point claims to be a finished product, ready for general release.
I had that impression also - pretty much the same as the "roadmap" that arrived at 17:00 - although it may have been multiple reads & re-drafts that slowed this one.So they drafted that only today? Oof. Shooting from the hip then, not a great sign.
Sorry, the tactic makes some sense - 30-odd pages now, probably 80-odd by tomorrow and all saying pretty much the same - there was nothing they could sensibly do today to smooth over the content they posted.I guess you can play it that way - which will agitate people (it did get my back hair up a little bit I have to say) further but I guess they're boss.
I agree, 100%, that there was nothing of substance to encourage players, quite the opposite in fact.I had low expectations myself, but they, again, managed to underwhelm once more
I would too, for both copies, without asking any questions.Having said that - if Frontier would offer me one (they won't I'm sure) I think I would actually take them up on it.
Performance – We know there is more to do here, but we are pleased to see some players reporting notable improvements for particular configurations
