Development Update 3 - August

Aaaah, more mission templates! ...and ones that let you excercise both your shoe- and lorry- ownership, at that. -Looking forward to this! :7

Nice that some of the non Odyssey features are going to be rolled out to consoles (little c) when update 7 is deployed mid September.
As to the ‘things that we are actively considering’ like alternate hub decorations and apex redirect. Is that going to push consoles even further out? I.e. 30th September update will say ‘we are hoping to deploy the changes mid / October and we’ll be telling you about our exciting plans for console soon’

Why do you think its rocket science to change 50 million to 200 million, so rank 5 dedicated players have some money to show for that work?

Change the UI to stop the hundred clicks it takes to load a ship? Or change allocation sizes since the whole allocation model is essentially busted?

These won't break Powerplay, and (I hope) would be easy to do. But for some unfathomable reason Powerplay is not allowed to have small improvements, and its users relegated to Morlock status over and over.

most of those limitations are there to stop players from botting the system because powerplay is highly sensitive to player actions.

whether bots exist now anyway and all this does is annoy living players ....well we know fdev wont address that and nobody doing it would ever expose themselves...and all chatter about it is no longer public.

But you want 200 million be rank 5 when rank 5 is self sustaining and requires 2-3 hours max of PP work per week to maintain while providing sometimes extremely lucrative bonuses ?

You wouldn't be improving powerplay, you'd just be making another "pp specific module carrot" for players who couldn't care less about powerplay to sit in to take advantage of some reward.

The main...and really only thing PP needs is collapse and promotion.

The ability for players to promote a normal faction to a power by reaching a certain set of triggers. (this would necessitate a way to procedurally create a power from a faction so it wasn't all manual crap like it is now) ... and a way to kill a power by reaching a certain set of triggers.

With those two things implemented, powerplay can actually be something. Alive... and no longer this undead zombie that can't be killed and can't feel emotion - questioning it's own existence and hating it's creator.

Are you seriously not going to lower the Odyssey Engineer requirements? They're ridiculous and the only changes you've made have actually cause them to take longer. It's the reason I'm not playing, and the reason I can't enjoy Odyssey. You made the stuff necessary by severly limiting things like being able to see, being able to run, etc... then made the upgrades insane to get.

Please stop ignoring this. You know by now it's not what anyone thinks is fine. You know because of engineers v 1.0 that it's the wrong way to go.

after 6 updates and still mediocre performance/gameplay i started to expect little from next updates thankfully, else i would be more disappointed

will these horizons updates screw with horizons as did with odyssey? please tell me it won't, i like having great fps/experience on horizons

Nah, I disagree. What you're doing is essentially working around the problem, not moving towards fixing it, and quite possibly making it worse. It's roughly akin to having a gamebreaking crash-to-desktop bug, and the immediate fix they provide is making that activity more rewarding to make up for the lost time rebooting the game every time you do it.

Yes, you'll get more people doing it, and the people already doing it will doubtless be happier, but you'll also get a load of people suddenly seeing that the game is broken, and when you do get around to fixing the actual bug, you'll just have to undo everything anyway, wasting even more time.
? Every activity in ED bar Powerplay has had massive credit uplifing. The cargo loading UI and methods have been updated in every part of the game bar PP. It took ED two years to remove one redundant UI element. Its pathetic.

If anything its bringing Powerplay in line with the game right now.

This is 200 million for a weeks work- 50 million to buy your cargo and 150 reward. Thats money for rebuys etc.

But by all means keep a dumb system dumb because.

So you are going to roll out all this stuff without out a PTR? /Sarcasm Yeah that sounds like a good idea! WHAT COULD GO WRONG?!?!?! /Sarcasm

It looks great TBH, but no PTR? Sounds like a recipe for a disaster.

I wonder if it would be in the cards to have active layout modification based on BGS states?

Like, if it's in Civil Liberty, you'll have more NPCs around, lighthearted music playing, that sort of thing. But if it's in Civil Unrest there would be less NPCs, everyone's wearing guns at their sides, and there's garbage in the corners, maybe some broken stuff and flashing warnings over them.

Pretty excited to finally have my carrier and it's modules show up in asset values in stats! Hopefully this includes credits in the carrier bank balance as well?

50 million pays for your PP investment to maintain rank 5. then you use the bonuses offered to do the things that make those bonuses a bonus...and get your rank 5 money that way.

It is an interesting surprise to see a better use of megaships in the plans. And better sphere of combat for ground CZs? Sign me in.

It is also nice seeing "Too much CC returned when systems revolt.". It is the first time seeing PP in one of these posts ;) though I'm not sure this will fix all CC math bugs going on atm.
