Development Update 4 - September

So in that case maybe it's time people learned to do these missions without going kill crazy ... just an idea ... often very possible, even fun :)
To be fair I haven't done much Odyssey ground stuff (or any FPS games for that matter), and tend to die very regularly. My experience up to now has been "need engineering such as night vision to help with missions, but for engineering must do missions". One way out of said loop of shame is buying pre-engineered stuff of course. If you can find the stuff you need ...

Good point, however, that is what it was at release and the perception that that is what it was supposed to be, at least from the perspective of many (but not all) of the tubers/influencers anyway.

I've recently tried a legal assassination mission and after doing some research, determined that my target was in the CMD building. Only one way to get in there. So I was able to clone a level 3, but on my way I got scanned and then all heck broke loose and I made a run for it. Didn't kill or even shoot at anyone.

So I was outside the settlement trying to figure out what to so next when a ship showed up and started shooting at my SRV, 500m away and destroyed it. I made a run for my ship, which was then attacked and I was still 700m out.

I did actually make it to my ship , launched, took up the landing gear and then exploded.

Learned some lessons that I wlll apply next time I try, but it wasn't easy, and it shouldn't "necessarily" be so either.

Or do what I have done: learn to play in the dark. It's an interesting experience.
Sure - I know when I need to git gud, but it can be pretty frustrating when you can't finish a mission in the hour you have available, and won't be able to again for another 2-3 days. At times this game seems to cater only for those that have LOTS of free time.

Yeah, if you have only an hour, that can be a problem.

Understandable, though I recently put up a couple of game-play videos on YT which were both less than an hour, one featured a Settlement Raid mission with 6 targets and the other was 3 missions, 1 salvage and 2 retrievals and all were successful. So it is possible to complete stuff in under an hour.

I'm generally terrible at FPS style games (not having really played any since Duke Nukem 3D/Quake/Quake 2) and it took me quite a bit of practice/experience to get good enough to successfully complete a settlement raid in EDO in the first place.

Links please! (I have done power up missions in 15-20 mins, and salvage is easy too, so yeah, it's not all doom and gloom)

I largely prefer the Star Citizen method of promising loads of awesome things, even if you know they won't come before 10 years, at least we know we'll have them in some form at some point. With Elite, we never know what to expect, and usually when content drops it's very dull compared to what official trailers would lead us to think (I know that's kind of the point of trailers to make things look better than they are, but still, in Elite it often feels you were adverstised a brand new Porsche and end up getting a used Lada).
This makes no sense to me. You're saying that you want FDev to keep promising loads of stuff and not deliver it for ages, rather than promise it initially, work on it and then announce it when it's ready? I love how Star Citizen players are all so impatient with FDev delivering on their 10 year roadmap compared to CIG not delivering on their 3 year roadmap, 7 years ago..

I got night vision and it's more a luxury than needed. Only true game changers are silencer and audio masking. Jump assist, night vision and quieter footsteps are nice to have.

For combat stuff you either need stealth (silencer and audio masking) or just simple grade upgrades. No need to unlock engineers, G3 can be bought and most mats can be traded for and are mission rewards.
