[DISCOVERY] new Unknown Ship (crashed) Hip 17125 A 3 A -65.8193 | 48.8662

This is so exciting! Hopefully someone find a way to interact with the site. It'd be a shame if this just turned out to be another shiny rock with nothing that can be done/learned from it. Someone get some NPC research teams out there, stat!!

Can somebody post aerial photo of the top of alien structure (circular 8-part "door" surrounded with spikes)?

Was there not too long ago and took some up close shots of the ship before even seeing your comment I'm afraid. Hopefully there is a good enough one of the top, thought I'd taken one of the bottom too but, nevermind.

EDIT: also, can add further confirmation that it shows as a Thargoid Scout although forgot to include the picture of the Srv cockpit when targeted.

Fantastic find! Was it accidental? :)

We also have seen this ship lately, in live streams and whatnot...

Awesome photos, many thanks. Now I need to find something among 10s of 1000s of my screenshots to compare something.

Speculation: brown matter on it is a Myocid virus.

Cool find. The new ships have hearts which sort of indicates they arnt even ships, and now a verified old school Thargoid ship has been found...

I was quietly laughing at all these people saying "THESE ARE NOT THARGOIDS" before but they may be on to something...

I'm glad that the ships we can actually interact with are the more modern Cyclops design, personally. This scout ship just looks like something from a black-and-white sci-fi show from the 1950's. Too cheesy to take seriously. It doesn't instill fear in any way.

The Cyclops-class, on the other hand, creeps the hell out of me. I don't feel the urge to shoot at it, I feel the urge to run screaming from it. When I entered my first NHUSS earlier today I intended to get a scan and maybe do a flyby in an SLF, but after it came up and scanned me I was too nervous to do anything. If it'd been a big octagon, I'd have probably just opened fire and laughed, even if it killed me.

I do at least applaud their effort in making the scout a sort of fusion between the classic design and the new stuff. It is very well done. Just not intimidating.

For those that fought them thirty years ago, just the silhouette of that ship brings back memories of fear and terror, swiftly followed by destruction.

That's a fair point. Sadly, the first Elite came out 6 years before I was even born.

Perhaps the tougher ships will be more like the old ones, but revamped a bit more than this little one. Octagonal silhouette, but with crazy geometry coming out of the front and back. And that creepy-as-hell bug canopy.

OK, I payed a visit here are my findings...

Ship has indeed crashed. :)

Laying around are pieces of 'Thargoid Biological Matter', 'Thargoid Technology Samples' and 'Thargoid Resin'

Someone asked if there was a top-down shot of the crash site, I got one

Love the terrain detail around it. Much more convincing than the Cyclops sites. Especially the distended soil in ahead of it. Really paints the picture of what happened when it came down.

I might have to detour to go see it after all.

Cool find.

I kinda hope that this IS a Thargoid ship - in sci-fi stuff in general I don't buy it when an entire species always turn up in a singluar type and class of ship. Too many examples to mention but the Star Trek series over the years have been guilty of it.

I'm hoping the Thargoid fleet is made up of old ships, modern ships and everything in between across numerous size classes.

I agree with that. The Cyclops crashes were very unconvincing.

It's quite small. I visited last night, and I was surprised just how tiny this thing is. I am fairly certain it is unmanned, and I also have an uneasy feeling it's a small part of a larger entity. That sphere on top somehow reminds me of an old fashioned remote control aerial...

Could be a Thargon? Interesting. I finally get to log in tomorrow, looking forward to a bit of game time.
