No because the 4.0 version is the same codebase, same exe, whether running in Odyssey or Horizons mode. Just like the base game and Horizons are the same codebase and executable when playing 3.8.
Ah,I see,so Oddesy light.
Nope, 2 code bases.
3.8 Codebase for Horizons (Legacy) on PC and Consoles
4.0 Codebase for Horizons and Odyssey - basically like it was before they decided to fold Horizons in the base game. We had base game and horizons running the same codebase
Like I said, just pull the plug on console and get it over with. No point on keeping it there if can't enjoy the things our arks are helping to fund.otherwise they are just being kinda malicious

On XB ED is getting out of GamePass, but other than that why they should pull the plug - i still fire my XB account from time to time (not almost daily as i used, but at least once per week) and i still enjoy the old codebase - sometimes if feels more atmospheric, especially the skybox but also the lighting generally speaking.

Cause not everyone can or will run out and plunk down another 8-900 $ on a p.c. just to play the game!I spent over 800on a top of the line Gaming console. The more demanding they make this game, the less and less players there will be.Thus, less and less revenue,so unless you p.c. gods want to start paying 40-50 for a skin, get on our side.as of sep.2021,there was 8 million Xbox x and s sold, even if 1% of that picked up Elite, that 80,000 new players.thats nothing to sneeze at

Bonesaw, using the number of codebases as the descriptor isn't the way to look at it.

There will be 3 separate ways of launching the game with players only able to see other players in the same one as them. On PC you will be able to pick Horizons 3.8, Horizons 4.0 or Odyssey 4.0. If you're on a console, you can pick Horizons 3.8 only. There will be no cross-platform play, just like now.

My point is there are Fracturing an allready fractured player base in an effort to streamline things, wich makes no sense ! If anything, make the 4.0 /Oddesy available to the newer console market

Blame console development and the time it took away from this for the lack of content, pat themselves on the back ,and call it a day.
If you've watched any of the recent livestreams with devs on, you'll know that ED is currently suffering from lack of budget and/or staff. Several devs have stated on stream that they'd love to do some things, but simply can't due to lack of resources. I guess the Odyssey release has really hurt things.

If you look back in time I don't think there's ever been one where they said 'Yeah, we'll get on that - we have more people than we know what to do with right now". s/w dev is always constrained by team size - when it isn't then you've run out of ideas and should move on...

Their handling of ED on the console has soured my view of them. Even though they have other games, JW2 and Lemnis Gate, on Gamepass I refuse to even load them up. Obviously, these are inferior games since they work with consoles, so why would I downgrade to those from ED? I'll be back to playing just as soon as they announce EDO for PS5 and XB series X/S, and I'll even pay them $30 for it. I won't be paying the $30 to continue playing an outdated game after it's off Gamepass though.

I hope that it will be changed soon, because it seems like it will only further divide the player base and will make things even more hectic.
The division between Ody and Hor was a big problem on many CGs, where people on chat often tried to play together just to find out that they are playing different versions of the game.
Multiple times I wanted to wing up with someone just to find out they don't have Ody.

Not sure if I'll have to stop playing Ody, which I like, to see more players as Hor 4.0 seems like the best middle ground that has most of the Ody stuff but is available for all the players.
I hope that this is not too crazy of a solution, but there is the option to buy Odyssey, which would fix all of it.
