You could make a backup of your system. If things go wrong you can go back to that one. Depends ofc of size of your HD/SDD where windows is installed.

The stats in the menu can be edited as well, it's very easy to edit your own stats so you have 100000000 kills however it doesn't actually change it server-side (Cant add money like that, have to do it other ways)

Haven't actually played SB1. Just docked at Azeban and looked at BB and reading lots of threads with ED alt tabbed. Got a hang on BB and later when ED was idle also a crash. Could kill ED though. Still stability has decreased - no wonder with THOSE kind of new changes.

My stats were never correct in PB1, so I stopped checking after a while. I think the only thing that was ever displayed correctly was time played. Credits earned was always 1900, even though I was flying around with a fully loaded Cobra. Kills/Deaths didn't seem accurate either.

Is current Beta going to get a wipe

Question for devs. Is this current beta going to get wiped before we get to release or is there a chance what we're doing now will get copied into live (as has often happened in betas in the past)?

I just want to know what level of investment to make in this beta. In the live version I will trade and stockpile my way to the billions and make my own empire.

If this is going to get wiped, for sure, I'll just trade my way up to a decent combat ship and then go full combat/bounty hunter/pirate. I don't intend to grind hours and hours for money that will disappear, I'll just get up to the point I can fight with top guns and defences and cover my insurance 50 times overs and then stop there.

Another wipe at end of Beta going into Gamma (pre-order access).
Reserved the right to have a wipe going from Gamma to general release but not planned.

Beta to Gamma will definately get wiped. Gamma should be the full game with final tweaks for playability and server load.

Expect any number of wipes between here and Gamma, and a most definite wipe on Gamma release....

After that, FD hope to let us keep progress in to release.

I won't be playing properly until after the final wipe, so will be useful to know when the 'final' one happens.

The rate of advancement in the current beta is so blisteringly fast, presumably just for testing, that a wipe (or several) must happen!

Impossible to guarantee better than "hope"

If they find a game breaker that needs a full wipe you cant give a guarantee against that

if there are no game breakers we should keep Gamma progress

Cheers guys... I'll keep doing what I'm doing as I still need alot of money. I was going to go combat merc in a Cobra 3.. but now I'm thinking a Viper might be better.

Is the Cobra 3 a decent ship to be going full combat and supplementary trading for pocket money in, or can the viper make pocket money ok as well? I believe the viper has only 8 cargo?

Pretty sure development is based on more than just 'hope' :) So I'm sure they'll be confident in the final wipe.
