I voted "No" because, as I understand it, the Gamma is the point where the Galaxy opens up and we can start exploring. Which means, telling our own stories, developing a real history in the Elite universe. Or for the PvP-oriented players, it means building up (or tearing down) their reputation, working out faction alliances and so on, which is another form of personal story to develop.
If there is a wipe/reset after Gamma, I won't ragequit the game if it still looks promising. And I understand the technical reasons why it might happen. But it means I won't follow the same exploration path I went down before, because I've seen that content already. The same might happen with faction quest lines. I don't buy into Early Access on story-driven games like RPG's for the same reason. Who wants to repeat what they've already seen, or know about?
Right now the content is so limited in the Beta that it won't feel like losing any personal history. There just isn't much of a way to develop that in the limited sandbox other than racking up kills or credits, and I don't think that's the main attraction of the game. That will change with unknown systems to explore, faction quests, a reputation system, and all the rest.
So that's why I hope FD can avoid it.
