[DW2] Distant Worlds 2 - A Journey of Discovery

Meetups happen during weekends, from Friday to Sunday and i recon people come and go as they wish. There will most likely be some organized events but probably not at every meetup.
We all know what the instancing in Elite is, so i think i will settle for the instance i happen to be at the time. No good fiddling with instancing with over 3000 people. Of course, if you want to get in the same instance with friends, etc. then winging is your friend.
Officially, the maximum supported instance size is no more than 16 cmdrs and after that the instance might come unstable, as we have seen many times at DECE and other expeditions before.

On phone so apologies for any text mishaps.

You may not need to travel to reoutfit after the Sag A station is built. We have no details yet on how/what/when but theres a possibility you may not have to travel.

If the station quickly appears and gets outfitting or a shipyard you could have all modules bought and stored at the edge of the bubble or at Colonia to transfer into the Sag A station.

Sure it will take a day or two but it means you can explore or mine locally instead of travelling.

For meetups it will be as DW1, as many as is stable in an instance. What Henkka said basically. :)

Shipyard would be great, but also it costs a ton of money to transfer stuff, so i'm rather going myself :)

I have to admit I was really pinning my hopes on a megaship: it does now mean that the Krait won't be suitable as a joint exploration/mining ship. I was planning on just bringing a mining laser and collector limpets, still making use of Neutron jumps (cos they're fun) and repairing my FSD at the waypoints. This won't be possible now as I'll need an AFMU, so I'll either have to choose one role or the other, or bring a bigger ship.

I'll wait and see what ships are revealed in Beta week 3, but it's looking like the Anaconda if I want to come along as a miner :(

EDIT:

Alex's reply above would seem to have some bearing on my problem, but I can see me spending all my DECE earnings at this rate (which is actually more money than I currently have) :)

So I know that we're planning on building the science station, and FDev denied the request for a megaship. Did we hear about anything else? I don't think I've heard what the entire list of proposals was, or what FDev's response eventually was, beyond that.

o7 - count me in :)

Missed the first one, really looking forward to this one....I even registerd my second account especially for it :)

See you in the black!

Im listed as an Explorer/Miner in my AspX, but seeing as mining looks like a job on its own, what with all the equipment needed for it, i will have to drop that and just explore, or change to photography or something that doesnt need specialist equipment.

Im not dropping my AspX "Apollo"

Yeah, problem is we don't know yet exactly what will happen.
I think preparing in Colonia is a safe bet since worst case its a hop across, best case it's a ship to the new station. I suppose we're all speculating really, personally I'm interested to see what actually happens since there's a lot of possibilities, it'll be cool to get the full details of the "Industry" section when the link goes live :)

I'm back on E:D after a 3 year pause! So much things have changed (planetary landing is super cool). I'm experimenting time-lapses and long exposure videos. If eveything works fine, I will be able to document this event with some peaceful and (i hope) beautiful shots to make a little movie. I can't wait for the changes of the lighting system in the next update.

Here is my first test with the new (for me) camera suite (the blur at the beginning of the video is the ingame blur/focus effect).

I really hope to be able to make a 4k movie of the expedition.

Just a quick question - I presume it is ok to update the registration as I go along? I have the base ship and config nailed down, but I am engineering and tweaking it which also means some data (i.e. Jump Range) will be different to what is currently on the roster.

I don't want to make extra work for anyone so I figure I can update in one fell swoop when it is all done?

Why would you call a ship "Apollo Too"? :p

haha brilliant.

actually my ship is Apollo 6. every time i loose my ship i go up a number and i have lost it 5 times so far.

Thats not too bad on the rebuy, but i have a T9 Heavy called Goliath 4!!! ouch and 2 of those i lost in the same night

If you have your edit link, there's no work for anyone but you, so you can update it 1,000,000 times if you want :p Of course if you have to email me the amendments I'd rather you waited until your build is final.

I just hope this isn't a repeat of DWE where I rushed back from Beagle Point when it started - to get back the day everyone left!

(Guess where I am right now?)

Woohoo!!

First I wrote this:

Then today I read this:

  • Switched the Discovery Scanner to a built in module, that is fitted to all ships. This frees up a slot for players to use. Refunded credits too

That means I now have room for an AFMU :)

That said, I'm exploring other options at the moment. It occurs that after SAG A* there won't really be a need for mining. So I might nip out to Colonia and build a mining ship (I already have a Python out there that should be fit for purpose), then come back and ditch all the mining equipment from the Krait, which should gain it a few light years (either that or fit repir and fuel limpet controllers). Then all I have to do is stop off at Jaques when we get to the core, pick up the Python for the construction phase, then park it up and get back in the Krait for the rest of the trip.

Sorted.
