was probably me on my phone couldnt see the option in the mobile themed version of the forums.

anybody seen this, might try find someone to 3d print the parts and incorporate it into your code and design boards Cataclysm

http://deltathrottle.com/

wondering if 2 of them would be best or if i could modify the handle at the top to have a rotational axis for ya as well as the 3dof the delta design provides

It has a cool factor indeed and some potential.
I can't see actually using that in game for a few hours my wrist hurts just watching the vid.

Alot has been done to address wrist position but I get your drift.

Still I prices up the printing and having bits shipped from USA.

Approx 150 nzd all up

i have had some awful days with high fevers, so progress has slowed to a halt. But the good news is that i am feeling a bit better now and new cans of spraypaint arrived with the right color for the last few control panels to be configured.

However i would need another few sessions with the lasercutter and i am really not fit enough for it so it'll have to wait.

the seat is playable, but not presentable to call the project 'finished'. I am very eager to finish it because i really feel like i need to put a mile stone to it. So this is my to do list

1. mount backlit front swith panel under monitors
2. apply engraving to side console panels
3. reinforce structure
4. build panel backlighting and connect
5. document (photos, diagrams) for an article
6. (stretch goal) include my little 'rumble pack' in the controls (finished but no mounting points)
7. (stretch goal) connect the switch panel

Because the switches are not required for gameplay (i can use the keyboard), it is optional and doesn't stop me from publishing the article with some nice footage.

another step: fully assembled, illuminated and wired switch panel for installation later on. This is one of the panels that i will be mounting under the screens. (Half of #1 on the todo list from the previous post)

Sweet, very clean looking and I like the choice of blue.

Looks fantastic and will fit the sleek and smooth design of the hotas perfectly!

Just out of curiosity. Would a simbuilder like, say me, be able to pay you for a set of panels of that quality?
If id do the designs in scale and of course pay for work, extras, shipping and what not?
And if that possibility is available, what kind of price could one expect?

Im finding less and less satisfaction with any form of panel I can manage to do and are starting to look for fabricated alternatives.

All my energy is currently focussed on making my current setup presentable. I feel most of my energy has been sucked out by this and other personal issues. I wouldn't want to abort it it the current state, not when I've come this far already. I don't think i need many days to get it done, and after that I will have something awesome to look back to. I also will regain my strength and energy to pick up new stuff, share it, and perhaps make a little money from what i've accomplished.

So yes, I would be able to make panels for you, but it depends a little on what you want from me: Only the panels, or the entire assembly with switches, standoffs, backlights or even working USB electronics. Or anything in between. Please remember that this took a lot of prototypes and research to get it to this stage. My hourly rate might be a bit higher than you'd expect. PM me for details, Enride.

I dont want to load you in anyway mate, whatever would potentially be agreed upon is on your terms and time!
What I would be interested in is only the panels. Switches backlighting and everything else i will do myself "inhouse" so to speak. But getting the panels themselves cut and engraved is something I consider worth paying for since I cant do anything of even remotely the same quality myself.

Ill drop you a PM buddy and no stress or pressure, you only accept this if you feel you want to!

Finally I was able to get some more work done today. I spent some time at the hackerspace working with the lasercutter to get my console panels engraved. I thought I was well-prepared but several things had to be redesigned on the site. I had to redraw the backlight lines because the line width didn't come throught on VisiCut. So I had to modify the AutoCad drawings and generate new exports. Unfortunately AutoCad kept crashing on the export phase. After maybe 2 hours wasted I was able to start the cutting on the last 4 panels.

The stripe on the right edge is for decoration, the others are dynamic based on the settings of the switches and the position of the sticks.

Here's a closeup. The inside of the holes look damaged but that is from reflections on the inside.

Here you see them lit up by putting a white desk light behind them. They're supposed to be blue.

With this done, I need to assemble them (replace the old ones) and design/build the led lighting behind them. Another step done on the todo list!

1. mount backlit front switch panel under monitors
2. apply engraving to side console panels
3. reinforce structure
4. build panel backlighting and connect
5. document (photos, diagrams) for an article

7. (stretch goal) connect the switch panel

Console panel assembled. But not connected. Looks dead without the lights..

I know it looks out of alignment, but that is because of the angled screens and the lower 2 cross members all off-angled which makes it look real nasty. In real life it is pretty spot on.

Below is a picture of my attempts to create an embossed logo (see other thread). I will place it in the middle below the center monitor when the time comes.

UPDATE: Now with lights.
