DLC18 discussion and predictions

Here's a fun idea, I looked at the top 10 wild species that would work as habitat on zootierliste by holders and I got this list:
  1. Golden Pheasant
  2. African Spurred Tortoise
  3. Mandarin Duck
  4. Greater Rhea
  5. Black Swan
  6. White Stork
  7. South American Coati
  8. Wood Duck
  9. Patagonian Mara
  10. Silver Pheasant
So my question is, how much do you want each of these animals in the game?
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes i love it. They are so pretty. Best duck
4. I need it badly
5. Nice but not a need
6. Not interest
7. Please plaseeee
8. I like it but i prefer mandarin
9. Another one i'm craving for and need badly
10. Getting the Golden pheasant is enough for me but i would not say no to another one.

So these are all birds and the only two Mammals are from southamerican. Are you finally getting the idea Frontier????

  1. Not the reeves pheasant (my personal favourite) but it's a pheasant and colorful so great addition to Asia. Would have been a great addition to the eurasia pack.
  2. Still one of the essential reptiles left to add, the giant tortoise is great but a more common tortoise is needed to represent mainland tortoises.
  3. A Ducks a duck. Great for Asian aviaries.
  4. Grey ostrich, gets a meh rating from me. Useful for SA Grassland habitats I guess
  5. Out of all the swans , the black swan is the most unique one to add compared to the mute swan. Could further boost the bird diversity for oceania which is lacking a general wetlands bird.
  6. Stork? Kinda feels like a wild bird like the mute swan that feels a bit off for most zoos. Would prefer the grey heron honestly.
  7. Cute arboreal animal for SA, what's not to love? ...Except its just a binturong for SA which doesn't help the roster.
  8. A ducks a duck, north America edition.
  9. Good for southern SA, at least it's unique compared to the rhea.
  10. Still not the reeves pheasant, I'll put this in the "it's alright I guess" category.

I actually agree on a wild camelid for an animal pack.
Lets face it, 2 is the minimum number of ungulates to expect and if those 2 go to the southern pudu and a wild camelid id be honestly rather glad.
Frontiers SA animal pack will be vastly different from what the community actually wants, but atleast to me a roster of Pudu, Camelid, Rhea, Mara, Coati, Monkey and best case a second bird like southern screamer, red legged serima, scarlet ibis or roseate spoonbill or in the more realistic case spec bear or ocelot would be a perfectly fine and Serviceable pack that feels quite realistic.

Is it a bit boring? Yes but that doesnt have to be a bad thing
Sure id also love a vast array of monkeys and birds to really play into SAs strong suits, but when looking at SA rep in game the thing that lacks just as much is basic spacefiller and rhea, mara, camelids and coatis are great to provide that and just fluff every SA area up in size, while pudu, monkey and potentially a second bird would give a little bit more special animals to play with, and if we should get the spectacle bear or ocelot wed have either a center piece for both SA but especally anden areas or a good allrounder filler animal.

Not the most exciting pack but defenetly a good basis for the long run
Is actually a pretty cool roster. You could just call it Argentina animal pack and i would love it hahaha. I personally think the Brazilian tapir is more likely than the pudu, specially if we get the mara in it as well. And i just can't see them not doing the ocelot. Is a cat. They like cats.

So do we think the next pack is an animal or scenery pack? I agree with the 187 animals + 5 + 8 can get us to 200, but which pack comes first? Animal or scenery?
There isn't a need for scenery, generally. Animal enrichment and specific pieces sure, like if they do an arboreal themed pack I would want more climbing pieces. And more foliage is always a good thing.

I’m sure we get only 4 animals this summer, if we still get anything at all.

With so many clones in one pack, I don’t want to see ANY clone in the next.
Standard packs tend to have more unique animals anyway, so I doubt we'll get a new pack with 4 clones. We might get 1, which is normal. Look at past standard packs. Twilight, Oceania, South America, Australia, Africa, Europe, Aquatic, these were standard packs but 3/4 (excluding the exhibit animals) were way different than anything else we've gotten

If they call it an Argentina pack and don't feature yerba mate or alfajores, I genuinely think we should form an angry mob

If it even exists a next pack then it will most likely be scenery. We just got two animal packs in a row.

If we get two more packs, scenery would come first logically speaking. The previous two packs were animals, and Frontier seems to prefer ending every year of support with an animal pack (which seem to be more popular too). At this point I honestly have no clue what kind of scenery we could still expect in a themed DLC though.

Of course, there's also the option that we will not get two more packs, but one larger final pack (PC style) that could combine some South American species, some other general zoo species and basic zoo scenery. Perhaps this would be the ideal situation.

And there's option three, which is not getting anything at all.

Imma be honest, I'm gonna assume that, if we get more DLC this year, then summer is likely gonna be standard. But it's actually not a bad thing. I've learned that the standard packs are where the new rigs/animations are, bringing in many more unique animals that future packs, most notably animal packs, will build off of.
So, what it's gonna be we have no clue. Maybe it'll be another regional thing, like India (which would actually kinda rock), maybe even Islands (more international as opposed to the Oceanía pack). Somehow, Frontier always finds scenery that works, not just with the theme but with the community.

Take all the past build themes:
  1. Arctic brought us useful wood pieces
  2. South America brought us amazing bamboo
  3. Australia is great on its own
  4. Aquatic brought some excellent faux pieces and the beach theme isn't bad either
  5. África brought sandstone
  6. Europe has the useful rustic pieces
  7. Conservation has many backstage props
  8. Twilight gave us some nice European pieces to build with, like the fences, shingles roofs, and stone walls
  9. Tropical brought us improved ruins pieces which also work great for SA
  10. Oceanía brought things like ropes and nets and even more beach theme items

So, even if a theme itself is lame or downright terrible, there's always gonna be something in there that people will use. That's partly why I'm not so against standard packs now as I was before

As long as we get highly requested animals in the next pack, I'm good. South American themed? Sure!

SA animal pack;
-Mountain tapir
-Chilean flamingo
-Smooth-fronted caiman
-White-lipped peccary
-Guanaco
-Six-banded armadillo
-Darwin rhea
-Mimic poison dart frog(E)

Yes these are highly requested animals, I've done my research. Source; Frontier.
Where's my Northeastern Pampas Fox????

I'm still not sold on there being a next pack. Given the way things shook out with this one I do think it makes it a bit more likely than we would have previously thought but... The theme choice, content, and so on makes it feel just as likely that it's the end as it is that there might be at least one more in the pipeline. Literally a coin flip as far as everything we know is concerned.

That said if there's a next pack? I'm guessing it'll be an animal pack. At least, for Frontier's sake, I really hope it is. Despite this one technically being an animal pack it's got a solid set of scenery and most of the CCs and building-focused folks seem pretty excited about the pieces we're getting (even if they're limited). So one last animal pack would be a nice way to balance things out and "appease" the folks who are currently miserable about the animal choice in this roster. LOL

EDIT: Also, do people think we might see another pack similar to this one (i.e., 7 habitat species, no exhibit, and a small set of scenery items)? Because I honestly kinda really love the format. The focus on clutter and very general pieces is a very, very welcome change!

Yeah if only we could get 5 of each in every dlc or at least animal packs. A couple snake skins that resemble for different species shouldn't be too hard in theory.
I'm one of the biggest mammal lovers of them all. Seriously long for another canid and am not too bothered by (non-swine) hoofstock (even the Black Rhino and Dama Gazelle). I also don't use exhibits too often... So, if I think we need more exhibit animals its almost objective that the exhibit variety is lacking.

Yes, yes to all of this. Even the double pheasants. I’ll take a second swan and two ducks.

I NEED THIS LIST
