DLC18 discussion and predictions

Oh! I got to be honest I was only aware of the big dev file being important, so what do you think then? August release?
Obviously the main Iqa file is the only file that tells us exactly when a dlc should arrive, watching the activity on certain files over multiple dlcs can give some minor clues. I'm still estimating a mid-late august release since july is out based on the steamdb activity.

Normally they try to plan around the Unlocks though(I say normally when there was only one) so wouldn’t it make sense for a September release? Like early September that is?

I can see mid to late august, but only if
1. They announce the dlc early in the July unlocked, which isn’t horribly likely.
2. They announce the dlc in the August unlocked, and then immediately release it. Which is much more likely. That could still put us close to September though.

The other key factor is that new CSM game they're likely to announce soon. If they're planning for a holiday 2024 release it would have to get announced sometime within the next month or two I'd think...

So my best guess now is that they announce the new CSM game in late July *week of the 22nd) and dedicate a solid chunk of the next Frontier Unlocked toward discussing that game, if it's PlanCo2 they'll have a dev breakdown changes and improvements from the original, etc. This will inevitably get a ton of eyeballs on the stream. So before they get to the big bit about the new game? They'll remind us that the next Planet Zoo DLC is coming using a similar method that they used for the JWE2 DLC ("There's one still coming, we swear! We just need more time! Stay tuned to our socials!") and that'll be that.

That way, they can get the PZ folks hyped while keeping the focus on the new game.

And then about ~2 weeks later is when we'll get the reveal for the new DLC set to drop in last week of August/first week of September. That way they can hype it up on the August Unlocked (then tease the new CSM game more).

There's a bit of synergy there considering that the next game is a CSM (and likely PlanCo2). It would be smart for them to pair them up in this way to try and get the PZ fans to transfer to the next game.

Just noticed that Frontier changed the way their Investors page is organized. All the little sub-links to the financial calendar, RNS news feed, and such no longer appear on that main page. It's all still there... But you can only access them through the drop-down menu now.

It's either a weird error/glitch or they got sick of non-investors being able to quickly/easily reference all of that information for speculation purposes. :ROFLMAO:

EDIT: Also noticing that a prominent content creator has scheduled two livestreams in August where they'll be playing Planet Coaster. Another also hinting at big news they can't talk about yet. Could be nothing but would also line up with everything else...

So a normal dlc then 😂
Basically take Gelada/Hamadryas, Burrowing Owl, Coati from San Diego. Spider monkey, Coquerel's Sifaka from Chester zoo, animals from animal kingdom and forge it into a zoo pack that takes iconic animals from different zoos and no one can do anything about it because they don't own the animals

Nah I'm leaning more into the "we've got two left" than the "one left" crowd. one for Latin America/the Americas and one Zookeeper finale pack. Beyond that? nope.
i kinda want 3 more packs for 3 content updates and 3 dlcs for a total of 20 updates and 20 dlcs.
Really want Latin America, Highlands/Safari/Mountains, Keeper Collection.

I need by beloved Rock Hyrax, Markhor, Secretary bird

I’ll agree I think that would be best scenario, now if that will happen or not (and I’ll keep saying this until the cows come home) we will see.

Maybe Frontier will think of it as “ruining the surprise” but I wish we got official documentation. Like I get if this new pack is bigger than normal that’s our official “we are done” but if this next pack is built like a normal pack I hope they would say something like “we got one more coming”.

Either way I think it depends on Frontiers news. I don’t know if the current PZ team is also working on the new CSM game, it’s possible Frontier might give us one more dlc for the Christmas sales.
Or they won’t, we will see.

Not gonna lie i still fail to the advantages of real zoo inspired/sponsored packs
Me seeing a sponsored Chester Zoo pack: wow what a cool place, oh well, I never have a chance to visit it!

I can honestly see a Disney Animal Kingdom pack, because, well, it’s Disney! The media giant is so engraved in our minds I think they can get away with it. It will never happen, but it’s more plausible I guess.

But I agree, the more I think of true zoo packs, even the top dogs like San Diego seem unrealistic.

Im just expecting only one pack thats a big let down, so it can only get better from here :D
I’m constantly swinging between two thoughts. Hopeful optimism that even if I am not 100% satisfied I will like the pack/ consider this last pack a truly essential dlc.

Vs the other emotion where it will be like some of the other less popular packs. Lots of the same type of animals the game is overly saturated with, and the final dlc will barely address the bird/monkey problem if it even tries at all.

You mean the farm pack?
I think how a lot of the community will feel about the Barnyard pack depends on the next one. I won’t deny it wasn’t what I was looking for at the moment. For what it is it isn’t a bad pack, but it’s also not a great pack either. Some good animal choices, mostly made of bad animal choices. Fantastic props, probably the most realistic “themed” props for any zoo.

Now if the final pack isn’t that great either, then I get how people will dislike Barnyard more.

For me, it's not just the size of the pack but the theme, roster, and free update features/items are also key too. Like, a Zookeeper Collection pack regardless of size will have me thinking that support is ending. Whereas a Latin American pack would be pretty middle-ground WRT that as far as I'm concerned. And I think any other biome or theme is going to further spur speculation and have people saying "It's not over!" So that's the "worst-case" scenario in terms of general anxiety (but best for the game TBH :ROFLMAO: ).

There really isn't one for Frontier or for the zoos.

The only way I could see it working efficiently would have been much earlier in the game's development with Frontier picking species and providing scenery pieces for DLC that were "inspired by" certain parts of a given zoo, stating it as such in the description, and donating a perecentage of profits to said-zoo and their conservation efforts or something. And that's more of a "goodwill from Frontier" sort of thing.

But other than that it just feels too lofty with not much pay-off for anybody.

Im just expecting only one pack thats a big let down, so it can only get better from here :D
I just figure that I'm thinking realistically based on what we know. There's 4-5 bits of evidence pointing toward this being the final pack with zero evidence indicating there's more. The way I look at it: I'm just being rationale based on everything that we know.

And if there is more than one pack to come? The evidence wasn't correct and we all get more DLC! Like you said, you can only go up from here. Haha.
