DLC18 discussion and predictions

I really wished Frontier figured out the Barnyard style (7 animals + half the usual scenery) sooner - Arctic, Africa, Europe, and Tropical (keep the sloth, and make it 6 habitat animals) all would have benefitted from that layout.
Yeah but the scenery would have greatly suffered. Tropical and europe especially are set i use in pretty much every single build, africa is great aswell. Arctic i could have done without, but i feel like the whole "aquatic is still like a year away from now" would have really restricted the possible 3 additional animals.
Plus i feel the barnyard template only really worked out because they are all "clones"

Completely forgetting about exhibit animals sooner and less scenery pieces overall in favour of 3 extra ungulates per pack

I mean, what did you guys expect from barnyard? The two most common animals in farms are ungulates and birds and that's precisely what the pack is.
For sure, the breeds could be different and the alpaca could be something else, but aside from that, it's a very good pack. better than the entire 2023.

I agree but you have one problem with this statement. You said “birds” in the plural, and as we all know turkeys, ducks, geese, and guineafowl were not included in the pack.

My ungulate fatigue issues both ignore and consider the barnyard pack. I understand that ungulates are common in farms, on the other hand the pack really could have used a second bird or a rabbit.

Arid was annoying for me because the porcupine was my most wanted animal for a while but it came in the worse pack yet 😭
Im just expecting only one pack thats a big let down, so it can only get better from here :D
Frontier always gives us at least a couple species from the top of the meta wishlist, and with farm animals out of the way I'm sure it won't be a complete let down.

Also the whole "zoo sponsored packs" thing doesn't really make sense to me. It only works for JWE2 because the game is based off of the franchise as a whole, plus Universal already owns the JWE IP, so doing packs for dominion isn't a problem. For Planet zoo it would probably be difficult to try and cooperate with with a big name zoo, and its not like we can't get the same animals we would in a sponsored pack than a regular keeper collection pack.

Idk only because it has multiple highly requested animal it can still be a let down.
Like musk ox, markhor, blackbuck, ocelot, spec bear, rhea some oddball and and exhibit would be a pack full of highly requested animals, but to me probably the most disapointing pack yet

Yes, but that a problem created by Frontier and Frontier only, as they despise birds by no reason at all.

In a more personal note, i feel like a smallet mammal, rather a lagomorph or a guinea pig would have be better than a waterfowl.

Waterfowl probably wasn't a good idea anyway for a domestic pack, a plain old white duck or goose would of annoyed the wild waterfowl fans. A guinea pig would of have been awesome even if it's so small.
I mean you got a point. A classic white domestic duck wouldnt be ideal, atleast not as the first and assumably only duck the game wil ever get.
But i think just going with the mallard and giving it a white variation could have easily solved that problem.

A theme like barnyard was always sure to be heavy on ungulates, as it rightfully should. Its just one to much which tips the scale for me, especially after last years. Changing one of them to another bird or a rabbit would have balanced the pack to a pretty ideal state, aswell as working against the ungulate fatique that seems to spread further with every pack. In addition to bringing some more variety to the pack in terms of habitat building.

I want the rest of the packs having that type of wetlands diversity for example for a latin america pack I would see:
Rodent - Patagonian Mara
Bird- Greater Rhea
Bird- Scarlet Ibis/Roseate Spoonbill
Feline- Ocelot
Primate- Howler Monkey
Ungulate - Southern Pudu
Procyonidae- Coatimundi
Primate- Cotton-top tamarin/Marmoset

South América as well. And we wouldn't be in this situation right now.

How is that diversity when you have 2 birds and 3 primates? I mena i welcome them with open arms and it is indeed what the game needs, but that isn't Grasslands/Wetlands/Aquatic level of diversity.

changed primate mb this wouldnt be afrontier pack without atleast one ungulate, which imo is a good one

Surprised No One Has Brought Up Domestic Ferret For A Barnyard Animal Choice Yet. Fun Fact A Group Of Ferrets Is Called A Business.
