DLC18 discussion and predictions

I know we have bee decals and the insect hotel with the conservation pack I believe but then I have no idea if guests actually interact with scenery pieces.
Part of me wonders if they will eventually translate all the text ingame because there are quite a few words that are strange addtions if they werent trying to translate the zoopedia.

here is my list from when we first discovered this

potential word fragments
  • ant
  • crow
  • fly
  • goodfellow (tree kangaroo)
  • hamadryas (baboon)
  • howe (stick insect)
  • secretary (bird)

standalone
  • baboon
  • bee
  • civet
  • cobra
  • coral
  • dolphin
  • dove
  • duck
  • eagle
  • echidna
  • eel
  • fish
  • hedgehog
  • hornet
  • impala
  • lemming
  • lovebird
  • macaw
  • mamba
  • moray
  • moth
  • mouse
  • octopus
  • parrot
  • pigeon
  • python
  • rat
  • raven
  • salmon
  • termite
  • vulture

some fun ones
  • dinosaur
  • kraken
  • hybrid
  • unicorn
Conversely, here's a list of animal terms I couldn't find covered by the dictionary (only some base game and first to second year DLC terms):
  • Bactrian
  • Baird's
  • Clouded (cloud exists)
  • Cuvier's
  • Burrowing (burrow exists)
  • Birdeater (bird & eat exist)
  • Lehmann's
  • Ruffed (ruff exists)
  • Thompson's

Salmon seems likely to be from Brazilian Salmon Pink Tarantula.

Oct 2, 2023: last record before PZ-centric update
Jan 27, 2024 All animals up to Europe Pack are present with this update + : ant, crow, fly, howe, baboon, bee, civet, dolphin, lemming, macaw, eagle, lovebird, mammoth, dove, hedgehog, moth, mouse, python, termite, unicorn, vulture, impala, duck, hornet

29 April. 2024: Big Update. Frontier adds dictionary to PZ site and update everything up to Barnyard Pack.
With said update appeared: goodfellow, secretary, hamadryas, coral, moray, eel, echidna, mamba
April update really sounds like an unintentional leak to me. Similarly to what happened to aquatic during the stream.

the april update includes almost enough animals for an animal pack just saying
  • goodfellows tree kangaroo
  • secretary bird
  • hamadryas baboon
  • coral
  • moray eel
  • echidna
  • mamba

this is a very interesting coincident also these coming right before barnyard means that these are likely not scrapped animals because why add them now when the packs that they could of been scrapped from have long since past and were prior to the update earlier in the year, coral and maybe eel are the only 2 potentially relevant to planco2.

looking at the list
  • ant, fly and crow are just parts of other words so could of been separated to flesh out the language
  • Mouse and lovebird have alternate meanings as a noun.
  • Mammoth and from what I remember unicorn appear in zoopedia entries.
  • Macaws and bee have at least 1 decal in the game already and baboon could be a generalisation of the mandrill.
  • Dolphin could be relevant to planco2 with its coastal theme

the most interesting is howe which we know that the lord howe stick insect was scrapped from australia so why include howe now.

the list of animals that have no explanation include
  • lemming
  • civet
  • eagle
  • dove
  • hedgehog
  • moth
  • python
  • termite
  • impala
  • vulture
  • duck
  • hornet

what is extremely interesting is that alot of these are really strange picks both for animals to add to the game featuring flying birds and small colonial insects and also animals that are extremely odd to be in general conversation such as impala and lemming.
I think it’s entirely possible the April thing was a leak, but I’m also thinking it’s likely to be related to any other number of reasons people have listed. Maybe someone just loves making a fake language?

I have some theories to some of the animals being added though:
  1. Any aquatic creature being listed is related to the water park/ aquatic theme for PC2. One of the mascots is literally a shark.
  2. The flying birds might be bird we can see flying above us in PC2. ZooTycoon had a number of birds only seen flying overhead, the doves, eagles, ducks, vultures, macaws, and lovebirds all probably fall into this category.
  3. Termite is added as there is a termite mound in PZ.
  4. Salmon has to do with the tarantula
  5. Moth could be related to the pollinator stuff in game
  6. Hornet could be related to the insect hotel
  7. The binturong is a type of civet
  8. Echidna is literally in a song in PZ’s soundtrack
That’s all off the top of my head. I think most things have a valid explanation. Though for quite a number of them I have no explanation. Likewise, with some of the animals being high on the meta wishlist (baboon, echidna, secretary bird, etc) and others being highly requested animals (all the birds and aquatic animals) it is definitely suspicious.

Seeing how we saw stuff like barnacles and fish scenery in the pc2 pics, I wouldn't be suprised if there is much more animal related scenery to be revealed.
Some water parks have living fish too, imagine it isn’t scenery but PC2 gets aquatics and fish before PZ 😂

But that’s my assumption as well, there is probably plenty of fake fish. (Man I would love that theme for PZ)

I’m assuming that they needed to update the dictionary with all the new words for PC2 and in doing so, they accidentally published a few words for Planet Zoo without realizing. Then after they saw us chat about it way back then they figured we already know so they didn’t change it or they simply didn’t care.

Are these words like Hamadryas and goodfellows new though? Or were they in the dictionary from the very beginning?
Last time we discussed this, I believe we came to the conclusion they were new additions. It's possible these were considered but never made it like say porcupine instead of baboon for the arid pack and quokka instead of the Goodfellows tree kangaroo in Oceania. Or maybe a future leak about exciting animals, who knows at this point really.

Are these words like Hamadryas and goodfellows new though? Or were they in the dictionary from the very beginning?
Personally I am not sure, Hamadryas could be new and baboon may be old. I’m thinking it’s likely Hamadryas was either planned and scrapped or planned and badly leaked. It does make me curious about the other words though:
  1. Goodfellows is way too specific, as is Hamadryas
  2. Secretary is a type of job, but let’s be real here that is also oddly specific
  3. Once again ducks, while it is a generic word, it does make me hopeful
  4. As does a number of the other birds mentioned in the dictionary
