It's a marketing strategy to hype you to buy planet zoo 2, Frontier is purposely keeping some iconic animals and also new features like flying birds and fishes only for the next gameSorry, but with the lack of iconic animals, the game will have an unfinished taste…![]()
I'm sorry, but monkeys are one of the most attractive species / group for the average zoo visitor, even if they know nothing about them. A squirrel monkey is much more known by anyone, than a Sifaka. And I bet people know Coatis way better than Dik-Diks.Most of the people buying the game are not massive zoo and animal fans like those of us on the forum. Something that may not make sense to us like lack of monkies, low south American representation, no birds in a pack, will not be much of a consideration factor to most of the people frontier is trying to sell to. They have to find a balance between marketable/engaging/enjoyable and pleasing the dedicated community too.
It's not even 8It has been a chaotic couple of months and now we can remove 8 animals from our frequent debates.
Hopefully there's one more DLC which might not have a career scenario beacuse we get the scenario editor in the update matching that DLC, so this is our last career scenario but not our last DLC.Reading the way the steam store page for the dlc is written, I'm doubting another dlc is in the plans. It would be an odd way to celebrate the "ultimate zoo" to continue making dlc and adding more career scenarios afterwards.
Anyone seriously thinking there will be another dlc to make the game have more than 200 animals just for the sake of it or to add more latin america animals, should really read the steam dlc page. The writing is on the wall that the end is coming. If anyone could suggest why this is not the last dlc please let me know.
Yeah honestly im more excited about modders being able to throw caution to the wind now than the DLC.I love these animals. I just wish it wasn't (almost, surely, certainly) the last pack. I'm going to use the dikdik and tortoise a lot for sure.
Can't wait to see what they all look like.
Modders, please enjoy a long and fruitful reign from here. I will donate what I can. Please give us every monkey, and some rather oddly balanced birds.
Yep, it's officially mod time until the sequel. There was an absolutely wonderful tanuki mod released recently. I might just look into commissions to get the mainland species in the game as well.Modders, please enjoy a long and fruitful reign from here. I will donate what I can. Do we have any word on the noises yet? Also I might join that discord, I’m not active but if this is the last dlc I want to go where it will be active and people will still talk.Yeah honestly im more excited about modders being able to throw caution to the wind now than the DLC.
Saw a little teaser of a flying owl on the discord yesterday and im so ready for all that feathery goodness
I'm starting to get super tired and my coherency is plummeting butAlright I’m gonna start the predictions thread and also gonna move over to the next speculation thread. It has been a chaotic couple of months and now we can remove 8 animals from our frequent debates. Guess that means we start agreeing with each other soon?
If anyone could suggest why this is not the last dlc please let me know. Maybe we will get some clarity durring the next frontier unlocked. Something tells me there won’t be one in November or December as they may be dealing with pc2 stuff and holiday.
I feel the same as you and @Marvinb , just a kind of “meh” feeling. No bird definitely doesn’t help. But none of the animals added were even in the top 10, South America was shafted bad, and all the leaks ruined the surprise.Definitely feeling the same way. Which is even weirder because I actually kinda like the pack? Haha.
I think a big part of it is that we already pretty much knew all of these animals were coming because of the dictionary leak and the subsequent fix. It wasn't 100% but in hindsight... It really was. Hah. We all had hopes that maybe it wouldn't represent the full roster and they'd squeak in one of the higher-tier picks instead. Because for me? All of these picks are solid but not a single one is "essential" for me.
So I think the ultimate lack of surprise ("oh, guess that was all there was to it") coupled with the lack of key highly-requested species, the tiny free update that doesn't really add much in the way of gameplay, the extended wait between DLC, and this giving off final pack vibes is probably what's causing that. I know that's what it is for me, at least! And I'm sure it will settle but yeah... Weird way to end things for sure.
It almost feels like they went to a few "reasonably highly requested" species and then let the developers pick ones they'd been dying to do for one reason or another. It just seems so weird to have a final pack without any of the top five when they've focused on that part of the list for all but one of the packs since Wetlands!
Yup, I'd tend to agree. That and the name of the pack drive it home for me.
No walrus is a real head-scratcher. The game already has several species of turtles/tortoises, replacing the tortoise with walrus would at least double sales among the general (non-zoo-nerd) audience. I think if this is the final DLC, Frontier missed an opportunity with such a universally recognised animal. Even if it takes longer, delaying the pack until Christmas and releasing the walrus would have made commercial sense. I just don't understand this at all. Walrus is perfect for a Christmas theme and headliner animal. Instead, they choose a cat that most of the world can't really recognise and distinguish from a regular house cat...Most of the people buying the game are not massive zoo and animal fans like those of us on the forum. Absolutely makes sense. Three of the four animals you mentioned first were all standard inclusions for many of the Highlands pack ideas being thrown out, with the H. Baboon being replaced by the "close enough" Gelada. And honestly those four I'm 100% okay with. The Tortoise is also okay, it's the other two that really let me down.Everyone wondering why this pack is so weird? There's a clear solution. It's clear that there were two packs that Frontier had planned, a highlands pack (pallas cat, markhor, Andean bear, and baboon) and a scrubland pack (tortoise, dik-dik, and sifaka). However, for whatever reason, they couldn't be completed as two separate DLCs so Frontier just decided to combine them into one final pack and say goodbye to Planet Zoo.
I dont thinks so.Do we have any word on the noises yet? Also I might join that discord, I’m not active but if this is the last dlc I want to go where it will be active and people will still talk.
