DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Herons are cool, but my problem is as the same with the Ibis and spoonbill is that yes, they spend a lot of time on the ground, wading in the water, but they do fly often :p so realistically is it possible within PZ without a real aviary? might be just me, idk, but the zoos I've been too I have not seen Ibissses and Spoonbill outside of an aviary.

The goliath heron on the other hand, that is I think an exception :p
In fairness, we have a few animals that are also commonly found indoors or with netting/mesh, like the clouded leopard. So, I think it'd be doable, and if you wanna be realistic, just build an aviary over it

A crane. Please next bird clone be a crane. But one that looks different from the red crowned crane because stuff like sarus, sandhill, siberian, whoopinh crane would be pretty much the same thing. So crowned, damoiselle, blue, wattled, hooded all welcomed.
Sarus would be nice for Australia, but yeah rather a crowned, demoiselle(Both nice for walkthroughs) or a wattled crane.
I would also like a galliforms clone. C'mon with the peafowl is not that complicated to make a pheasant or with the chicken as base make a helmeted guineafowl. Or with swans a duck.
Pheasants would be pretty cool at this point for a bird only park or petting zoos. Ducks would also be cool and I still think it's a missed shot for the barnyard pack. Or perhaps a goose, any species would do really. Pelican also once again, a missed chance for this Americas animal pack.

My theory remains old world but I will happily take Australiasia.
If there was gonna be another africa pack, I would only accept it under certain terms
Animals usability. Looking back at picks and what they gave us, I determined what animals I use in multiple zoos and what I don’t use. Arid gave us too many ungulates that I have only used once. If we are to get a theoretical safari pack then I want it to be diverse.
Safari
1. Secretary bird: gives us a bird
2. Honey badger: high request something different
3. Gerenuk: a more unique ungulate
4. Servral: gives us a feline and likely the last
5. Veveret monkeys: gives us a monkey
6. Impala: frontier likes ungulates
7. Bat eared fox: unique canid
Safari lodge like Scenary or
8. Black mamba
My version of this:
1. Grey crowned crane (after the coati debacle I'm skeptical we'll get a secretary bird)
2. Helmeted guineafowl
3. Common eland
4. Serval
5. Ratel
6. Mantled guereza
7. Nile crocodile

Saw this while researching color mutations. Made me laugh:

I've already seen a zoo with ibis outside of aviaries, but the heavy vegetation made it difficult to see correctly how the habitat was built (or the bird itself), I guess there was some net or grid serving as a rooftop.

A thing that I've seen in a bird-centric park that I would absolutely love is nidification areas, with platforms on top of tall poles where migratory birds can nest when they're in the region and then move from when they need to.

So I got a idea, maybe a drylands Animal Pack (Grassland 2.0, also this is how I feel PZ will do it)

Secretary Bird
Perentie
Gernuk (would personally prefer a Kudu but oh well)
Blackbuck (I know two antelopes seem much, but it's Frontier we are talking about)
African Crowned Crane
Bat-Eared Fox
Rock Hyrax (my beloved)
Not bad, I guess. I feel like the next DLC should prioritize what the map is missing. We will pass a milestone tomorrow because we will no longer have any areas in red or orange.
Considering that SA was practically red up u til recently, that's a huge step up.
Areas that are still yellow are SA, India, and I believe somewhere in Central America (which can somewhat combine with SA anyway)

So, let's take your Drylands Animal Pack and tweak it a bit:
  1. Patagonian mara - will bring Argentina up to the green
  2. Blackbuck - a huge boost to India
  3. Perentie - an Oceanian reptile that isn't a croc. That's a win
  4. Secretary bird - highly popular and will give Africa another bird
  5. Grey-crowned crane - see above
  6. Gray langur - they live in forests, mountains, and lightly wooded areas. With this and the blackbuck, I think India could go to green
  7. ? No idea what to put here. It could be the Nile croc or American black bear, I guess

This definitely what I would prefer, but after this pack I feel that getting the Mara and Secretary Bird is incredibly unlikely, especially because one might end up sitting being a rehash of a existing animal, heck having hyrax and sectary bird in the same pack is unlikely. Negativity aside your pack idea is way better than mine and I love the animals you picked.

Coati man, white nosed coati for drylands.

Although i admit is a stretch but we were robbed and i want my coati😡

Honey badger is a better fit though. You can also have rock Hurst, bat eared fox, short beaked echidna, etc. There are a lot of options for shrublands. Not that they will ever make such pack anyway.

One idea i always liked; the Daylight Pack. Similar to the Twilight Pack featuring crepuscular animals, the Daylight Pack features diurnal animals, potentially including:
  • Coati
  • Howler Monkey
  • Grey Crown Crane
  • Blackbuck
  • And so on...

And instead of building pieces, there should be lots of plants and gardening elements, like flower beds and mulch.

Dang, I love this concept. Really cool
If DLC 20 is a Safari pack, I hope we get a chameleon instead of more African decoration pieces
Africa doesn't have any props, whatchu talking about?! (I'm kidding)

I have definitely seen ibises outside an aviary before, I have also seen seagulls, cormorants, ducks and pelicans without netting before so a heron should be no problem.

Again, I haven’t seen it 😅not saying it isn’t anywhere else. Usually ducks and pelicans are clipped. Anyway the point is the birds are awesome and we are lacking great diversity among the PZ birds 😊
