DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Because honey badgers and lion-tailed macaques have no association with rivers
Ah, that's what those primates are. Gotcha.

I was thinking of the tropical rainforests having rivers in them like the Amazon and I can see the Western Ghats and Silent Valley National Park where the macaques can be found appear to have a few rivers in it. So, I'll hold on to that personal feeling for a rain forest/river pack but it could just as easily be a location pack. But with these 2 animals being found in Western India, maybe ..

More tigers ( 18% of the wild tigers )
More elephants ( 30% of asian elephants )
Lion tailed macaque
Sloth Bear ( already have )
Nilgiri Tahrs

Malabar Civet
Nilgiri Langur

And the possibility of Asiatic lion and Asiatic cheetah but, maybe we will be lucky and have some unique animals rather than ones very similar to others :)

I don’t want to underrate the fact I’m so happy to finally have a honey badger in this game. I was scared they wouldn’t after the Wolverine. So happy they’re here.

My prediction (hoping the elephant is just for vibes)

Lion Tailed Macaque
Honey badger
Blackbuck
Himalayan Monal/ Golden Pheasant?
Gaur/ Nilgai
Langur/ Pelican (Oddball slot)
Asian Lion/ Sri Lankan Elephant (sad inevitable clone spot)
Ex: King Cobra (I really think we get it this time especially since we’re not just getting 2 this year most likely)

Imagine getting india pack without a Cobra, like that's smth u going to jail for- like Snakes r one of the most known animals in India, mainly Cobras- And I mean we do have do have the Statue of the Cobra in the india set in the base game, so pls- But anyway if the Asiatic Lion would make an apperance, that would make me so happy- even tho there r better Lion options or the best option is just to update the current Lion but i guess that's not smth that gonna happen but yh I need a good looking lion-

I sincerely hope we get the Asiatic lion. I vibe with it so hard nowadays, and for an India/Subcontinent theme there's not a whole lot I really want.

Blackbuck is a must. Lion-tailed macaque will be amazing. Asiatic lion would make it great.

(Himalayan monal as a wildcard?).

I really don't care about the honey badger though, and another elephant is an awful cop out. Sri Lankan elephants are lovely, yes, but the Indian elephant already covers any need I have for an Asian elephant (I mean, hell, they could have given it a couple more variants and renamed it "Asian elephant" in the free update and I'd even be fine with that).

This could also be a place to get a muntjac. Possibly not the Reeve's unless they stretch it into southern China, but the Indian muntjac would fill the void.

actually what are the odds we get the asiatic lion
I mean, it would be waaaaay better than getting an Indian elephant AGAIN... And the re-model is also much more demanded.
In fact the idea of getting another elephant is so absurd and frightening that I'm not going to think about it anymore 😰

What tropical plants from India or Asia would you like to get?
Another nice bamboo set would be cool.
And also I love those giant Ficus (banyan or something similar), they are staple trees.

prediction I think we won’t get scenery this time and we’ll get a cobra finally
Please YES!! Or a leopard gecko, that is also very representative terrarium species from the Indian peninsula. Getting both would be a dream, 2 of the 3 great missing exhibit animals.

Who knew my favorite animal could cause so much distress lol I love Asian elephants but we don't need more!

I feel like we have two unique heavy hitters with the macaque and ratel. But honestly, im thinking the rest of the pack might end up being felid(s) and ungulates. Tbh, other than the monal and cobra, that's all I want anyway from the subcontinent.

I'm thinking the following:

If no new elephant species added to game:
Ratel
Lion-tailed Macaque
Asiatic Lion
Gaur
Blackbuck
Fishing Cat
Himalayan Monal

If new elephant species added to game:
Ratel
Lion-tailed Macaque
Asiatic Lion
Gaur
Blackbuck
Fishing Cat
Sri Lankan Elephant

+ King Cobra if exhibit species added

Yes but the coati would take some work, meanwhile the blackbuck uses the gazelle/lechwe rig and should be on the easier side to make.

On the elephant situation I am now more leaning towards it being just there for the pack theme being India not a new subspecies.
The whole "coati would take some work" theory was proven not to be the case after they revealed the bush dog. They could have put that effort into the coati (which would have just needed an upright tail and some new animations for the snout, the rest could have been based on pretty much any climbing animal). The bush dog deep dives, has a completly different body structure and movement from any other canid and got new animations as well. So we just have to accept that they just choose not to include the coati on purpose in that pack. It was a delibarate choice, not because a lack of resources.

Honey badger and lion tailed macaque are examples of how to make good choices even with clones... No need for that elephant subespecies. So many other animals that could be just clones with a reskin and would be much better: damoiselle crane, gaur, blackbuck, Hanuman langur, fishing cat, Muntjac, any indian deer, etc.

An Indian pack... I did not expect that, but I like it.

My predictions:
  • Ratel
  • Lion-tailed macaque
  • Fishing cat
  • Blackbuck
  • Chital
  • Gaur
  • Sarus crane
  • Indian cobra or king cobra (exhibit)

Alternative picks: Nilgai, Asiatic lion, muntjac, golden jackal
Other options that I deem less likely: indian pangolin, pygmy hog, chevrotain, musk deer, sambar, barashinga, hog deer, nilgiri tahr, red serow, four-horned antelope, hoolock gibbon, grey langur, resus macaque, bonnet macaque, Indian wolf, jungle cat, Indian leopard, Indian mongoose, smooth-coated otter, yellow-throated marten, giant squirrel, himalayan marmot, demoiselle crane, spot-billed pelican, stork (white, painted, black-necked, woolly-necked), mugger crocodile, burmese star tortoise, himalyan monal, tragopan and other pheasant species

I really doubt we'll get another elephant. That would be the worst pick ever, and beside that the ingame Indian elephant is one of the better looking base game animals. The Asiatic lion would be a clone as well, but at least it could be a better version of the base game lion.

Can't wait to find out the final roster. Ratel and lion-tailed macaque are a great start. We also really, really need a small Indian hoofstock (or 2) to mix with our Indian rhinos (chital, hog deer, nilgai or blackbuck)
