DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Hot take: While this forum is certainly a factor, I think a lot of us overestimate its importance to the overall decisions made with regards to DLC species. Just because the coati (for example) is high on wishlists on this forum doesn't mean that the average player wants it or even knows about it. Now of course, that doesn't mean it would never be added (I don't think anyone knew about the Lechwe), but I think some of the takes I've seen are a little over the top. I understand being disappointed (I was super hopeful for the golden lion tamarin personally) but some of the anger I've seen feels a bit misguided

Can someone tell me how a Jungle Animal Pack would be different from the Tropical Pack we already have, other than, you know, being an animal pack instead of a scenery pack?
Wouldn't be with the in-game biomes, but definition wise it's a density of forest.

Fundamentally what's shown doesn't seem dense enough for Jungle, but still fits Rainforest, which could be Tropical or Temperate (the Southern Pudu and American Black bear would qualify for example).

Maybe forest animal pack but that would make the ratel an odd choice. Kind of a stretch. Even if they do live in forests is not what they are associated with.

Also that river takes a very prominent place in the cover art so that might be a hint as well, even though the animals are not really riverside animals.

A "Jungle" pack feels like some pretty epic cope. Obviously, you can't rule it out completely but that's just such a huge stretch given the vibe of the key art, animals presented, etc. That would be like if Frontier teased the Barnyard pack key art and people started saying that a "Springtime Animal Pack" was coming because chickens are vaguely associated with spring or whatever.

"India" makes sense as a theme given the animals, the scenery, heck even the color of the key art matches onto the other Asia-related DLC. Not sure why anybody would think otherwise without getting any additional information. The Zookeeper key art was a bit confusing, so I understood that, but some of this seems like people stretching wildly.

And trust me, I'd much prefer a "Jungle" pack because it would put the tree 'roo back in play. LOL

EDIT: Not saying it's 100% an "India" pack but... All of the evidence we have now points in that direction. Mostly just saying that I'm very confident the theme isn't jungles.

I can see this being something else than an india pack. But safari? Idk, safaris are so unanimous with like savannas and stuff that putting rainforest vibes and temple stuff on the cover would be very bizarre.
It is more likley a jungle pack than a safari but I do agree this
At this point in the game, what would better represent India? The animals I can think of are already in the game.
surprisingly india actually had alot of representation in the base game with 4 major animals which is more the double every continent other than africa and asia.
Why do people always dumb down the average player, they aren't stupid or have some type of neuro problem.
You do realise both children and adults who dont spend their entire lives around animal exist thats who the casual consumer of video games is. Yes this game may attract more zoo nerds on average but the majority of players are likely going to be children and adults who just enjoy animals. It is safer to pick the most broadly known animal for a pack headliner even if its underwhelming like the coyote because your more likely to have people recognise it may from their own backyards.

I just realised something. Elephants and lion tailed macaques appear in Disney's Jungle Book movie, and there's a honey badger in the Jungle Book animated series. Jungle Book is based in India of course, so it's easy to associate the words Jungle and India. In the concept art there's the prominent river which makes me think of the Jungle Cruise ride/movie. I think this is going to be the Jungle animal pack
the monkeys from the jungle book dont really seem like lion tailed macaque and arent called anything in particular but I guess the idea still stands
The world doesn't revolve around Disney. The series has far more prominent species than honey badgers and lion-tailed macaques, so the connect is pretty thin IMO
Eh I would normally say yes except this game is built by the english western world for the english western world so an association with the word jungle and the jungle book is a no brainer here

I would agree except coati did extend beyond the forums and into pretty much every corner of the community when it was announced that americas wouldn't have it your underestimating the appeal while everyone else is overestimating it.

Jungle is a loan word from hindi which now basically refers to unkempt and usually dense forests with specific connotations in south asia there is no true definition of the word but its associations primarily limit it to the tropical forests of south east asia and I would be almost identical to the tropical tag used ingame.

Fully agree with you about safaris. When your average person thinks "safari" they think about the African savannah. Tall yellow grass, lions, elephants, zebras, hyenas, etc. So I don't think that would be the case but...

Remember when folks were 100% convinced the Zookeeper pack was a Highlands/Mountains pack? Maybe it's a similar situation here. Not safari but... "Expedition" or "Adventure" or something more general. These animals could fit that too and it would still make sense with some of the new scenery we're seeing (or think we're seeing) in the key art. And there's something about the flow of the river and that weird/random structure at the river's edge that's given me just a hint of pause. It has kind of an "adventure" vibe about it.

I'm still feeling full-on India vibes but not enough to say I'm 100% certain. Hah.

Might be a bit of a hot take, but I kind of wish we got a different family of monkeys over another Macaque. Don't get me wrong, I will gladly take another primate and the Lion-Tailed Macaque is pretty iconic. I just kind of wish we got either a Langur or a Loris. But as said, another primate is always welcome

Technically we already have one langur 😊

And Lion tailed macaque is endangered and my favorite monkey.

But yeah colobus or patas monkey would be neat.

Golden snub nosed monkey would also be my monkey of choice.

Monkey dlc please 🙏🏿🤭
