I think it’s a stretch to call cranes semi aquatic in the first place, but if they are i think most stork species would aswell.

I’m not counting on it, but that’s one of the reasons I hope we could be getting a crane or stork. Maybe they just didn’t consider it semi aquatic?

The red crowned crane falls under the same semi-aquatic category as the leaked animals therefore it is very likely that another crane would also be considered a semi-aquatic animal

The challenge says "semi-aquatic", but it's just shorthand for any animal in the aquatic biome

Frontier has never missed an announcement, no matter how small. Throughout JWE and PlanZo, they've been pretty good at announcements, but it's always a guessing game as to when it'll arrive

You mean beside Frontier being an AAA game developer studio with hunders of employees? Lol. This is not a random guy that develops a game on his own as an afterschool activity.

Mistakes happen, but the thought of them forgetting to announce game is just ridiculous.

But if I had to guess for a real answer they may be an animal to be put in the sequel. It sucks, but it’s the only explanation I can think of besides “they don’t like ducks”.

Very real possibility. I'm not sure that I truly expect a bird at all, honestly. We've had a pretty solid run ever since Oceania (2, 1, 1, 0, 2) though, so I'm not going to give up hope entirely.

If we are discussing land birds that aren't waterfowl, one species that I continually remember and then forget to mention is the coral-billed ground cukoo. A really quite pretty Indochinese bird that spends almost all its time on the ground, has been successfully kept and bred in the past (although not kept anywhere currently) and an Endangered species. It is extraordinarily obscure, but I'd still love to see it.

Yeah, there's no scenario where Frontier "forgot" an announcement. There's one of two things going on:

1. This was the plan all along and the announcement was planned for a later date (likely end of June given what we know currently) and they just dropped it on the livestream because the last one went over so well.
   
   
2. Something is delaying the announcement. Could be literally anything so it's not even worth speculating.

But as an end-user the difference between 1 and 2 is irrelevant. Haha. So I tend to just assume it's #1.
