Do guests stay together?

I was looking at the guest on kiddie rides and noticed it was all age groups on the same ride. Wouldn't it be better if the older guest of the family group either if they are older children:

Leave the group and go on other rides they want to ride, separating form the group.
Stay with their parents and watch their younger brother/sister as the younger guests go on the kiddie rides.
Go on the rides with their younger brother/sister while their parents watch.
Watch from outside the ride as their whole family go on the ride.

Parents:
Watch the younger kids as they go on the rides, taking pictures.
Either the mother or father go on the ride with one or all of the kids, leaving the mother or father to watch.
They all go on the ride.

If the rides are roller coaster rides and the kids are too young or too small, then one of the older guest watch over the disallowed guests who cannot go on rides while the others do go on the ride. Maybe going on the other, smaller rides while the others are on the bigger, scarier rides. This could also relate to guest who are too scared to go on scary rides.
