Do human signals appear on FSS?

Say I'm hunting the galaxy for abandoned research bases etc, if I use the FSS to scan planets as normal (getting geological and biological signals as normal) - will undiscovered human (or even thargoid/guardian for that matter) signals show in the FSS, or will I have to map the planet first?

Basically I'm trying to find out if I need to map every single landable planet in a system to find stuff like this, or if they will show after using the FSS to scan down planets....

Follow-up question: I always use the DSS on planets I will be landing on for features the FSS identified, but is that necessary for the landing sites to be pegged on the planet's surface as you approach?

Yes, you know the number of sites but not the exact site location, you need to DSS to get that info.

Thanks, Varonica, that's what I thought but don't rememebr ever actually testing it, just used the DSS as matter of course.

Just keep in mind there are two places information on planetary sites appear in the FSS, at the top called "features" where the bio and geo sites are shown, and at the top of the detailed list called "locations" which will list the human/goid/guardian etc sites. 99.9% of the time "locations" will say "none" so it's easy enough to tell if there are sites on a body that aren't settlements.
