Horizons do modular terminals actually exist

Four days searching mission board for mt and not a single one. No in game clue on where to find them. Elite Frustration.

Tried a host of those, but no joy unfortunately. Perhaps FD could post the expectation time for finding these things. A bit silly now.

How to obtain Modular Terminals

Jeez, I keep throwing the things over the side or selling them at the CM. Run cargo delivery missions and you receive them as an additional materials bonus and yes, it's pretty random but also fairly common.

Keep an eye on your cargo inventory or it will become full of materials that customers are giving you in addition to the credits you are paid for completing their delivery missions. Cuts way down on cargo capacity if you let it. Heck, if you check your cargo inventory you may find you already HAVE some modular terminals!

I got mine for Qwent from doing missions in and around Nanditi. Took a couple of evenings play.

Have seen them other places too.

I have been running cargo missions for five days now and not seen one. That is my point. Exquisite crystal - got those.
Which systems have you been getting them

Pretty consistently for the past couple of weeks I have been running cargo and data delivery missions out of Haller City, Barnard's Star to the neighboring systems to grind FED rank, mostly to Epsilon Indi & Duamta but moving around a lot in the local area. To break the monotony I do some bouncing back-and-forth data delivery and (FED) donation missions between New Dawn (Ceos) and Newholm (Sothis) while stacking long-range cargo delivery missions back to the bubble. I am constantly throwing out or selling odd tons of materials I keep finding taking up space in the hold, including modular terminals in fact, a bunch of Engineer materials show up in my hold on a regular basis, I am simply not grinding Engineers, presently.

I find that if I fixate on a single goal then I become more susceptible to frustration. If I relax and work my way through the several goals I am currently working on (presently Credits, FED rank and a Fed Corvette) the credits, materials, etc. just seem to flow. The results: 500 hours played, over 600 million credits liquid and several fully A-rated ships. Not a bad return, a couple of million credits per hour.

Sound advice. Having just done what you appear to be doing, rank FED for corvette, I thought I would try the horizons expansion pack - and have become very frustrated because 'I want to try the engineers' but finding the material is proving almost impossible. I probably will leave it for a while, but that means discharging relevant cargo I grinded so hard for.

Just sold 24 of them, probably sold 200 or so in past week - excess baggage from my Empirial rank progression.

You will find them in any missions that give "commodities" as a reward, they will be listed in the cargo rewards for the mission.

Not impossible at all. Some materials are, for very good reason very difficult to find but many of the materials are dropped into my hold by customers as additional "materials" rewards for completing delivery missions. I am constantly having to sell reinforced mounting plates, modular terminals, etc. at the CM or dump it over the side to free up cargo capacity.

im looking out for them too, hopping between Boom systems and now have 12 from 3 delivery missions (one which was re-directed to system with the port 126,000LS away!!!!!). I don't think the economy type matters either, got mine in an industrial, refinery & agricultural. I'm currently doing some trading between the different systems and am finding the missions as i go, i'm not really into the whole solo-group-open switching thing and it took a couple of hours of "traditional" trading to get the ones i have. I get a whoopy feeling when i find one though :)

Thanks for all your suggestions. Like others I have been discarding mission reward cargo, including stuff that others cannot find – exquisite focus crystals for example, ion distributors etc. Just back from ceos having done two hours of ceos-sothis data runs. Still no joy on modular terminals. It would be nice to know whether spawning of all material is uniform throughout the whole galaxy and what the expectation values are. At the moment, I may be going slowly insane. At least from your comment it seems that they do exist. (Obviously npcs find them with ease.). Yipee .... finally. ITZA spawned a mission with mt. Off to see maruuk.

LOL, they're just like rank up missions: They're all over the place.. until you actually NEED ONE.

That said, I've gotten 4 in the last 2 weeks of farming Imp rep and long haul missions. I suspect if I didn't actually WANT them, my hold would be lousy with em'.
