Just curious what percentage of forum people actively engage in power play struggle currently.

Feel free to stop by, vote and explain the reason for your vote if you have time.

Myself: not participating. Joined the Blue Princess, fought the endless stream of ships during two evenings, accumulated 750 merits. Couldn't be bothered to wait another three weeks for prismatic shields and .. unsubscribed.

I rather like killing wanted commanders in control systems. That is the best part of power play for me. The rest is too simplistic and grindy to my taste.

How about you?

CMDR Kay Altos.

Technically yes. Actually no. I signed with Princess Aisling and ran myself up to the 1500 merits level. Kept it at 1500 or so for four weeks. Now I am off on an exploration voyage and just watching my totals decay away. It is unlikely that I'll bother with rebuilding my rank/status again, although I may remain pledged just for the RP of it.

No, pledged for Miss Winters, unpledged about 2 days later.
I'm loosely based around Shinrarta Dezra (parked all my ships there) and was always jumping between Federal and Imperial Space.
My brother was rep grinding for the Empire and so all those interdictions in "hostile" space got on my nerves as we were winged up.

The merit grinding is just no fun for me, maybe I'll sign up for the Fed guy with the increased bounties at some point, other than that there's nothing for me in the Power Play.

I don't.

May be one day when it will be adjusted.

Wayyyyyy to grindy. Too painfull to be explorer with this system and way tooo hard as a trader.

Better solution : stay independant.

Need action ? Go free PVP or CZ.

And today dev update give me more confirmation : devs keep waisting their time on this feature.

I've spent the last week doing it. Very close to quitting.

I wanna see what happens when my rank goes up.
If nothing special, I'm going indie again.

Haven't yet and don't plan to at the moment - I'm still getting enough entertainment value out of the rest of the game at the moment, though I may check it out in the future. Especially if it gets improved.

Yep, not too much though - I doubt I'll ever get to rating 3. Just doing a bit of pootling in my Power's space, running a few power missions and then doing some missions for local factions. It's fun to be part of a wider grouping, but sometimes I just want to do my own thing.

Too much grind for too little gain, and pretty much fair game outside your 'friendly' zone.

Also, I just don't care about any of the characters.

I read the PP write up before its release and thought...... Hmm not sure that's my kind of thing.
after launch, read some more and then saw a few posts on this ere forum and thought .. Stuff that. I moved my base of opps well away from that rubbish and got on with my own game.
i smuggle, I trade, I BH and I explore.
PP Would just interfere with how I like to play. Simple as that I'm afraid

Hell no,did in beta and expressed my opinion on it and what was fundamentally wrong with it (along with a lot of others). Read the "it will be better post" and went no where near it on release when it became apparent that nothing was any different.

I am however massively exploiting (in the correct way) the markets that are influenced by PP and making a complete killing with zero effort.

Thanks for making this a poll! I've been wanting to see how we're divided.

My answer is "no", because I don't role-play, thus there is no game in this mini-game for me.

Dear FD developers, motivate me!

(Also please add a stock market in which I may invest, thank you!)

Another no here. I'm technically still pledged, because I want to see if you defect at Sag A if they send hunters after you. I don't see any point. The powers are identical except for portraits and minor bonuses, no story or background for any of them, and they don't seem to have a hand in anything that is done. Similarly, there doesn't seem to be any point in expanding territory; all you're doing is increasing the number of systems with whatever bonus your side gives, which is of limited use considering all systems are essentially the same to begin with.

It should have been integrated into the game rather than added as an entirely separate (and useless) addition.

Imagine if all of the development effort that went into PP had gone into....missions, bug fixing, <insert anything else>....

We can only dream...

No. I consider it a badly thought out meta game which adds very little to the game experience. To quote others; "it isn't Elite".

Powerplay should have built on the existing minor faction engine - not been a new layer that considered it irrelevant.
