Yep, I figured few people would get confused. :D

What I meant to say is such negativity (or should I say objectivity) might discourage FD from further consultations with the community. Perhaps I should have used more smiley's..

I'd expect FD to be professional and not to get upset that people have issues with their product.
I think customer feedback is a necessary part of software development and any developer of any software would be daft to ignore what their customers are feeding back within reason.

I think the line that certain ardent fans like to perpetuate that FD are less likely to listen when people have issues isn't actually true and it is just an attempt to quell people's attempts to raise issues because for some strange reason people pointing out issues with the game makes the ardent fans feel bad.

Well, you see, the community decided to impliment "fanboy decay" as a way to keep FDev making good solid content. When they slack off they will lose any gained "fanboys" until they create more good content.

We could implement something called "Hype" which would be used to boost their "fanboys" when they have the time to create better content.

Made me laugh...this has got to be one of the best posts in this thread..lol, ty cmdr!

But you neglected all the stuff in the FDF!

Actually if you look really closely at some convuluted things mentioned in the DDF this fits in loosely with what was outlined.

Plus, once all the backers leave no one will remember the DDF any way.

Genuine question.

Does PP actually work and are people enjoying it?

It does work in that as far as I'm aware it's doing exactly what Frontier developed it to do.
There has been a couple of bugs that I know about but nothing game breaking.

Some of the the people that do actually take part (whom are a minority it seems) I assume enjoy it else they wouldn't get involved. Some people have stated that they are only involved to get certain modules and once they have them they will drop out too.

i was powerplaying the bare minimum to keep at level 2 with ALD to boost bounty income. i can't even be bothered to do that any more. done with it.

Yes, approximately one fifth of players enjoy PP.
Do they though? taking part and actually enjoying it are two different things. I'm willing to bet that a number of players (probably not all that high) do not enjoy it but do it for the rewards/modules or for some reason other than enjoyment.

Given the bugs in the software (non Power Play related) and the overwhelming poll result so far wouldn't dev efforts be better directed towards fixing the bugs that we constantly submit which would have a very positive effect on gameplay ?

OK, maybe a fifth of the fifth enjoy it. The rest are angry and confused.

Not angry just sad that ED has taken this PP direction. But yes I am confused.

It sort of smells to me of the complications Eve introduced with their invention type representatives who gave peculiar missions to enable you to earn tokens to make rare items. Or something like that.

Been away from it for around 3 years now so the old brain is having trouble remembering. I remember it being quite complicated though and a similar thread running at one point as regards the way it had been implemented a bit too much spreadsheety like PP.

Can't help but wonder if the implementation would have been a lot better if they'd engaged with the DDF first...

The didn't really need to. They could have looked at the feedback given during the Beta, held it back and redeveloped it. Instead they just pushed it out.
Yeah, well, they would have to admit they were wrong to kill off the DDF, and that does not seem likely. But everyone knows that the sooner you find design issues (or bugs come to that), the quicker and cheaper the fixes are. Having a post-hoc DDF-like session with the whole forum seems the worst of all worlds. But then my distinct lack of happiness about how the DDF was handled may make some people think I have some bias here.

... Which I do, of course. I have no personal interest in power play. I would, obviously, have preferred them to have spent the resources doing something like, say, giving us a proper exploration system, or tier 2 NPCs. However if they had to do it, I would have wanted them to get it right first time. Now I have a double whammy in that they will now spend even
more resources that I would prefer were doing something else.

This, I voted yes in the poll as i have technically pledged. Doing nothing power play related until week 4 when I will grind 750 merits (I might just spend 7.5 mill to buy the merit's, as I could probably grind 7.5 mill credits faster anyway). I'll then take my shield and leave.

We need a do you actually enjoy power play poll.
