Do you use Voice Attack?

I have 14 HCS Packs (bought not long after they started coming out) and initially used 3 or 4 to act as crew basically, swapping them round occasionally. But I have to admit that i have my own voice attack commands profile that I use instead of the voicepacks, so I know what will happen when I speak.

Do you use Voice Attack and HCS Voice Packs?
If not why? or elaborate, thanks.

the immersion could be fun, specially if the voice packs are any good, but i anyway find voice is a rather convoluted and forced form of human-machine interaction. people just want to forget machines are machines and i really don't see any advantage in that. would you give voice commands to your knife and fork?

there are, however, very valid use cases, like this rather impressive demo:
(skip a couple of minutes if you don't want the context)

I havn't set mine up yet waiting on my headset but I did train with windows 10, all the vids just ook like so much fun :) l

Depending on which packs you got, there will be some very amusing surprises at various points :)

I found it quite a daunting experience setting it up, but now it's done it doesn't seem difficult in retrospect. There are some very helpful people over on the HCS Discord or in the HCS forums that have solved everything I've thrown at them so far. They really do love their product and want people to enjoy it!

I used to a lot, less so now and only while alone. Even with windows closed, it reacts more to voices in the street than it does to me, which can be rather frustrating.

I bought Astra.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I used to, but I guess I just got tired of keeping VA and the HCS packs up to date. The novelty wore off after awhile, too.

I'm hoping to get everything off the keyboard to voice.
At one point I tried mapping thrusters and rotation and trying to land at an outpost using voice commands only. Took a while!

I mostly use it for commands I don't need in a hurry - landing gear, hyperspace (and let's face it, it's hard to resist "Engage!"), launch, that sort of thing. I've also mapped pips to it because I've not found a comfortable setting that I can do quickly without moving my hands but the lag of saying it and it responding isn't great, I need to find some decent VR-friendly mapping for that; I've never got one on the throttle or stick hats that I'm happy with either.

Yes

I use Astra and Verity plus I also have EDDI installed with it's vap included to load with Singularity.

I play music on the desktop through the speakers all the time with no problems using a podcast high quality mike and no headphones.

On Windows 10 Pro

I just integrated the "Run Singularity Commands by Keypress" vap so that the Panels remain in sync if you use kybd or joystick to view panels.

Integrated Voice Navigation to Bookmarks over the weekend.

Only need to work on the Voice command Communications to have everything at 100%

It's taken a long time, but it now works perfectly, virtually 100% of the time. I doubt I would play ED very often without it. VA/EDDI makes it more fun by automating some of the repetitive drudgery. Learn how to use all the options available on the "Protocol Override Customize my Settings" screen and save your settings so you can reload them after an upgrade.

The setup and bug ironing isn't for the faint of heart, but once you get it working properly and integrate it into your play style, it's well worth the effort. I just started using the voice commands to target specific modules on an opponent during combat. Good stuff. Auto plotting to Engineers is also very convenient.

The best advice I can give is to READ all the files that are included in the voicepack download.

And yes - I can still do everything manually when I want to.

No.

I have several Voice Messages already turned off in-game to cut the chatter. Not the chatty kind of guy.
To think of having to slowly speak out Voice Commands all the time to operate all Ship equipment - when I can do multiple Inputs via HOTAS or Hotkeys within a fraction of a second would seem terribly ineffective. And noisy. It'd probably drive me nuts.

I've seen several Videos of CMDRs having the Ship computer start reading a whole story after entering every (!) System and every (!) scan during Exploration.
Couldn't stand that, not for a Minute.

I use a x-flight Hotas so pips are on the hat, also I mapped thusters to J8+hat. It's more the defensive thing in fire groups I want VA most. Cycling through multipal groups takes your attention off the target.

I have the demo version that I sometime use to order around the SLF pilots, but generally no. I don't want to be yelling at my computer in the middle of the night and my HOTAS buttons and switches are faster and more reliable.

You can turn off/on chit chat by voice.

You can turn off/on chit chat by voice.

You can kill the chatter selectively or entirely in EDDI and you have a lot of control in the HCS Customizer as well.

Additionally, a lot of functionality is event triggered and requires no voice input. Once everything is working as it should you can take or surrender as much as you like.

I speak in a soft voice at normal speed and it works fine. I can also disable a lot of the routine chatter. I don't have to use a voice command either. I can execute manual control at any time. I can also play without loading VA if I want to revert to pure ED play.

No, seems more like a novelty sort of thing to me. Kind of cool, but not something I've bothered with.
