Docking Issues Suddenly?

Did something change recently with docking mechanics? I used to be able to cruise in at relatively high speeds and slam her down on a pad, then she was locked in. Now she skids all over the place, even if I am careful. It seems the pad doesn't lock the ship down in time, and even a very careful lowering results in a drift after contact.

Anyone seeing anything similar? I wonder if it could be lag. The DC doesn't seem to have any issues. Have I forgotten how to dock suddenly?

Did you change ships?
Some ships are somewhat fussy about the pitch angle, so if you're not completely level, they won't latch.

I can second this. My approach to landing could best be described as "Belly flop and slide". I got a Cutter about a week ago and discovered that approach does not work very well in it; the Cutter seems to need near-perfect pitch to lock in.

I still come in like a plane, so the last few meters are frequently a slide into the circle.

If you come down vertically, there is often (and always has been) a tendency to slip sideways, for reasons I could never fathom.

Asp Scout and Cutter are the worst when comes to this.
I notice it in anything I am flying, from Vulture/FdL frames to Anaconda/Cutter. I've been playing for a few years and only noticed this a few days ago. At first I thought I was being sloppy, so I focused more. Then I was seeing that even if I set down on the spot very precisely, the ship doesn't lock in and still drifts, then suddenly it locks in as if there's a delay.

Uneven thrust deflection from the ground effect?
In a helicopter it's also easier to keep some forward momentum to the last moment.

Interesting. To be honest, I haven't played for three days, now, as I'm battling with some VA/HCS issues that drive me crazy, so I'm not sure.
