Newcomer / Intro does anybody know how to use the kill warrant scanner?

That looks good. Make sure to target your enemy, deploy hardpoints, aim your ship at the enemy and hold down your secondary fire button. It takes ten seconds to complete the scan. If your guns are firing, it's because you're holding the primary fire button.

Or you have your turrets set to Fire at Will where they will attack anything alleged to be hostile, Target Only is better as they will concentrate on your target and so do more damage they will also require you to pull the trigger to start firing so are much safer though they will continue to fire while the target is unobscured in arc and in range.
