Does steam version support oculus rift natively

Hi
I am convinced when I used to play ED through steam it supported the rift natively. Utterly convinced. I don't like steamVR on the rift and find it is usiversally inferior to native support.

However now VR is likely being dropped I can no longer recommend anyone buy it on oculus store . Someone replied to me saying of they do that they will be stuck using the steam VR wrapper.

Can anyone confirm I am not going mad and the steam version can be played in VR without steamVR on the rift.
I know there is open composite but as it's not official not everyone will like that

Yep, you can claim free copy of steam ED for your oculus home. Look for "partner keys" in frontier profile page.

Dunno about native rift support, guess it will connect to steamvr, but rift s definately wont.

Thanks for your reply. According to internet any purchases made after April 2019 will no longer get extra keys. This isn't for me I am sorted it's for new players asking about ED on oculus forum.
