Does Voice Attack work randomly with everyone else?

You have to work around VA sometimes. If saying ‘raise landing gear’ isn’t working use something else perhaps just ‘Gear’.

In the example of ‘Gear’ you can also try using ‘Geer’ instead.

My wingie and me could never get Python to work. He now uses Kylie and I use Danni to get a ‘Python’ message to appear in comm’s!

Teaching any software Essex is tough.
Teaching any software Sauffend, Essex. IMPOSSIBLE. However, I do have a great laugh trying.

A bad microphone or noisy working environment can lead to poor recognition profiles over time. Once you have replaced the microphone or reduced background noise delete the old voice profile and create a new one.

The following page from the voice attack forums lists instructions on adding new language packs for use with MS voice/Voice attack. It adds German to an English installation, but will work the other way round too https://voiceattack.com/SMF/index.php?topic=45.0

You can do recognition training in any app/program that supports Voice recognition such as word pad or MS office. Once you install the appropriate language pack and select it as default, simply dictate in one of these programs and correct mistakes as they occur. MS voice continually improves your voice recognition profile, using it in a program where you can correct dictation mistakes is a good way to quickly develop an accurate speech profile. Or, as I suggested above, use this technique for helping with words or phrases that cause recognition problems in voice attack.

Thanks for trying to help. Kudos and rep to you. Sadly, changing the mic leads to a sort of luxus-problem: I use a VR headset (Oculus CV1) with integrated microphone - and it has some decent sound. This limits my choices a bit. Also, I wad able to install and use English speech recognition, but when entering the training mode windows complains that this is only possible for the language of the Windows installation. Atl of your other tips (using another application for training and the links) are of great help and I will check if I can reduce the recognition errors by that. Thanks again.

I love how so many responses in this thread are, "You have to train the voice recognition thingy!" in spite of the OP stating - repeatedly - that this is not a recognition issue. Totally love it. Not. ;)

I get where the OP is coming from. I also run VoiceAttack, or try to. I also run into this issue where the program responds absolutely perfectly for a while, does everything you want it to, when you tell it to, then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, the program responds to nothing. Zero. Zilch.

This is not related to HCS Voicepacks. Those who run HCS Voicepacks may have the same issue, but it's not the Voicepacks. How do I know? I bought Verity long, long ago - and she's not installed in my current installation of VoiceAttack. I use a 100% custom profile for Elite.

As mentioned, this is not a recognition issue. It just stops listening to anything for a short time - somewhere up to about 20 seconds, by my reckoning, 20 long, frustrating-as-heck seconds, before it's suddenly back, listening to all commands again as perfectly as it did before it freaked out.
There is nothing indicating it's trying to process speech into commands - there's no lag on my system when this occurs (no idea about the OP).

I have another issue with VA as well, significantly more serious, but that issue is beyond the scope of this thread, and I'm not entirely convinced that issue is actually VA, after doing some research...

I haven't played a lot lately, but don't remember this happening to me. I'm running Win 7. Are you guys that are seeing this issue running Win 10? Could there be some background process that is asserting itself and maybe intercepting the keystrokes and causing the troubles? Do you have a second monitor where you could watch the VA window to see what it might be (or not be) doing?

Sorry, I needed to be more specific. There is nothing wrong with recognition. The problem I'm having is that the key press isn't being sent or recognized by Elite: Dangerous. Using the keyboard or HOTAS binds work 100% of the time, though.

There's a few things;
1. Is the VA profile "focused" on your Elite client? There should be a drop-down box on the upper right to switch program focus. (Edit) You can refresh the list from the menu if you don't see the Elite Client.
2. Is there any other code in your command that might be causing errors (i.e. true/false logic or un/set intergers)?
3. Is VA in "listening" mode?

(Edit #2) You may contact the folks in the VA/EDDI threads for any further help if you should need it.

I say, "Landing Gear" to deploy my landing gear and nothing happens. I say it again and the landing gear might deploy the second, or third, or manually when I get frustrated.

I've tried increasing the delay from .1 all the way to .4, but it still doesn't immediately respond. I'm out of ideas how to fix this.

VA is running as administrator and it's targeting the ED window.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Exactly the same problem with Landing Gear. Also Heat Sink. I resolved the issue by adding both of those terms to the windows speech engine vocabulary. Pretty easy to do. Unfortunately it's been a while and I don't remember the details. I believe they're in the VA manual but if not you can do a google search and get the instructions pretty easily.

I've got a pretty hard core accent which is a blend of Oklahoma and Texas. Talking to computers can be a chore. The only one that always understands is Alexa. That bot is just plain creepy.

I farted a little while ago and Eden responded by turning on my exterior lights. Sorta like the clapper but with an unpleasant odor.

It's not a recognition issue. It's an input issue. And why'd you swipe my image? x.x

I know the command is getting through because I have it confirm via text to speech?

I didn't swipe your image. Pulled it off the internet a long time ago. I use it for other things besides ED.

Funny though - When I 1st saw you using it I was gonna ask the same question of you - then decided - hey I swiped it off the internet maybe he did the same thing.

Are you using HCS voicepacks? If so, I noticed the latest update changed landing gear dialogue from being a 'toggle' (e.g. saying "landing gear" would lower if up / raise if down) to requiring two different commands 1. "deploy landing gear" to lower and 2. "landing gear" to raise.

I had everything working well and then decided to "fix" it by upgrading to the newest versions.

What a mess - a lot of random issues. I also had EDDI installed. Landing and launch sequences became hit or miss, Galaxy map would reply but not open, mouse widget was toggling on/off every jump - just to name a few.

Uninstalled everything and started over from scratch. Now to find all the commands and get things back to where I want them.

So it goes

I must confess I have extracted all of my wav files from Alix, and have written my own Voiceattack scripts. I place the appropriate wav files in folders like "affirmative response", or "landing gear deployed" and then have Voiceattack select a random wav from the appropriate folder when I request an action. I've gone so far as to get cereproc to generate a much wider range of slf pilot responses when I give an order. Voiceattack is so easy to script, most of your commands are simple key presses, and something simple like requesting a landing pad or launching a fighter is no more than 5 with pauses.

I can't remember which update convinced me to go diy , but I really did not want to rebind everything over and over.

It would be nice if HCS or Voiceattack could actually read the in-game menus so that targeting an enemy subsystem would be viable. It might be nice to ask the question, "What is the destination of the next mission?" . I might go through the keybinds, for that convenience.
