Doesn't anyone else find this suspicious?

The relocated marlinists apparently are numbered 'only' in the millions, yet they just gave out over 200 billion credits in bounties and bonuses. Not counting what they are giving out in the other CG, AND they are going to be selling all their goods at a discount once its over. Where are they getting all this money from? And dont get me started on the thousands of double engineered modules they are giving away too. Ram Tah is the ONLY engineer who does anything to point defense turrets, yet these poor oppressed 'refugees' can do better AND in bulk. This whole marlinist plotline feels more and more contrived to me, probably with the goal of making the end result around or just after Odysseys release not look as bad.

I suppose they get huge financial help in order to settle in. But honestly, I won't be surprised if this money is only here for gameplay reasons, instead of ingame real reason.

Would be cool if they were linked to an important Odyssey plot, though.

I read somewhere someone saying (jokingly) that credit is only in use for pilotes and that anyone living on a planet is a lot richer than any pilote (by the thousand billion)
Well it could explain that. And Ram Tah is maybe only a bad enginer and nobody really care about some point defense...

Just picking a random low population country IRL, nothing to do specifically with Denmark --->
Population in 2020 = 5.8 MM
GDP = 350 Billion

The present day monetary value of 350 billion with ~3000 years of even modest inflation would be in the trillions or next order magnitude up.

The marlinists being able to afford ~200 billion in spending is easily believable using nothing but regular population vs GDP math.

But if that throws you off, the other plausible explanation is there was just a handful of marlinist rock miners funding this entirely from their spare change, made off of mining the respawning egg over last few years.

...anyone living on a planet is a lot richer than any pilote (by the thousand billion)

Why aren't I still on a tropical paradise world, FDEV?

A bit over 800 million of them, so that's only 250 credits each. Plus whatever funding they got from Sirius Corp as part of setting up the colonies, which won't have come without strings (and we're starting to see their motivations) but could be quite significant.

There are individual players who could fund a 200 billion payout - it's hardly beyond the bounds of possibilities that a few of the Marlinists are similarly rich and want to make an investment now in the hope of making it back later tenfold from stable and secure trade economies.

Petra Olmanova says "hi".

But also, engineers are the way that independent pilots like us get access to high-end military-grade modifications. Actual militaries don't send their entire fleet on a tour of the bubble including to opposing powers to get it tuned up: they have people on staff for that. The engineers we see are nowhere near the only people making these modifications.

Case in point, the spec ops teams that show up in conflict zones with military engineered ships. The others are ATR units. They have mods even we can’t get our hands on..
