Done every other grind in the game, but ...

Getting the gauss cannons are no grind at all. I really enjoyed getting them, flying around some cool systems, finding the guardian sites, sussing out the puzzle and then collecting the blueprints and materials. It takes 4 blueprints, I think the word grind is used a little too much!!

Played since launch, the game is pretty darned easy at the mo, money, rank and even materials are pretty easy to get with multiple ways to get them. I've been out twice for guardian stuff and got one weapon each time, its a bit of work but then you get the weapons and they are great against thargoids.

It's a grind if you stay at the guardian sites and collect all the required materials and data in one go, instead of unlocking them one at a time at a leisurely pace.

I may have to give it a go then when I can play next.

The Gauss cannon is absolutely worth it, wouldn't want to miss it anymore for AX fights and it's the current meta there for a reason. Plus, it has the advantage that your specialised AX build is not more or less helpless anymore, as they work as regular Rail Guns against human ships while the legacy AX stuff leaves you completely defenseless.

That said, even getting the 4 weapon blueprints required felt definitely grindy, and for the time being, I can't be bothered with another 8 or 10 for the Plasma Chargers. I don't mind the distance, as you can't really land on some of the sites in anything larger than a DBX anyway, and the riddle itself is nice at first. But after the second iteration or so, it tends to get rather repetitive; get the Relic, drive to each of the six pylons while the timer lasts, shoot them until they light up, fight the drones in the meantime (their missile effect that topples the SRV over is a rather physical experience in VR btw), drop the Relic and finally scan the machine. 1 blueprint gained. Back to the ship, repair, rearm, relog (yes), next cycle. Repeat this 8 or 10 or 18 times? No. I really hope they change the requirements in 3.1.

I want them too. But there is no way in hell I am going through that grind for them. Hopefully they will have changed it up a bit for 3.1.

But that's exactly why we are complaining. Obviously players should want to try out the new content.

It looks like Q4 will be the only meaningful gameplay update within a full year. One year is a long time to only get content of the type "But there is no way in hell I am going through that grind".

I have been complaining about it too. It is frustrating to be honest. I have also given ideas that should be available within the current game to make the Tech Brokers (personal narative) a more engaging experience.

Agree with both the above: Gauss are worth it (but glitching the BP was easier), and the 'grind' is supposedly less in 3.1 so best to wait.

Bit bizarre talking about 'every grind in the game' when I've got max ranks elites etc without any grinding, but I guess if you choose to grind that must by your bag - hopefully they'll add some more grind for you soon :)

Thanks guys. I was also feeling that I should wait until 3.1 before doing this.

What is "glitching the BP"?

There is no need to grind in this game, unless you really want to. Any and all games can be grinded, if you want/need to. I am proud to say that I don't grind, I don't have time for that.

I got Triple Elite back before getting any of them was easy and by my definition of grind, there was absolutely no way to do it without grind.

Thanks everyone! +rep

I'm not sure if that is meant, but after 3.0 was released you could do the Ram Tah I mission and scanning the obelisks with the
correct artifact combination yielded blueprints, which was later patched out.

The Guardian sites themselves are pretty fun, I plan to go back sometime.
Kind of wished I'd picked up more blueprints before it got harder though, ho hum..

I agree it's fun seeing the site and doing it at least the first time, and picking off those materials. Well designed (like the earlier thargoid bases) spooky ruins and atmosphere with the guardian sentinels. It's also kind of like a NMS activity or mini-game of obelisk ruins that looks better than NMS itself. :)
(imo, also serves as a nice demo on what the cobra engine can do for gameplay outside of the spaceships; once ED gets atmospherics & spacelegs going, it will shock the gaming industry and be the undisputed best space game ever! )

I hope they just make 8 sites that give out alpha, beta etc blueprints and you just need to get the right ones to unlock tech broker stuff.

Relogging as a design is poor, felt like they rushed the tech brokers out a little, there seemed no story to how they suddenly appeared all over the bubble.
