Ok then. Tell me how expansion packs will be any different for people who again, choose not to buy them, or can't afford them?
How will it be any less of a problem than if content was sold as individual pieces.
Either way, some people won't have the same content as other people, and the solution will be the same, wouldn't it?
Because, like I already said :
1) An expansion pack add a new game mecanics (like, I don't know, a "water slides park" like "soaked") not new content (making differences between players) to the initial game.
An expansion pack is more like a "chapter 2", a suite, it's not just content.
2) An expansion pack has always a fairer price for the players than multiples DLC, and always with a better quality/quantity/price ratio. (You can check you will see, it's true 99% of the time)
3) Technically speaking, it's easier to sell one new product every year and display one or two icons next to the park name, stating "to visit this park, you need the Water Slide expansion" rather than "to visit this park, you need the following DLC list [INSERT 9 DLC HERE AT 3,99 € EACH]" because it will be very unlikely that a user owns ALL the DLC.
(by the way, if they could use this "small icon" next to the park name to indicate that a park contains custom content to download, it would be nice too ... but that's a little off-topic I know sorry)
Just make DCL content viewable for everyone, but disable building it for people who haven't purchased the DLC.
It's even more frustrating.
You can view it, you can "download" the park of the guy, but you are not able to modify the content ? No thanks ...
It's like displaying a message in the center of the screen : "Hey dude, sorry but you are poor, you just can see it, but you can not play with it, toooooo bad !!! [Machiavellian laugh]"
Anyway, you can turn the story in every directions, the best solution is to sell the game itself, derivatives if they want, and why not one or two expansions packs in few years, with free official updates (and UGC too, which is free too).
There is ABSOLUTELY no logical reason to ask for DLC rather than free upgrades.
We don't need to be mazochists, asking to pay (to fatten up shareholders) for content they could produce for free, just to keep the hype alive, and sell more copies.
If they sell as much copies as RCT3, they can, at the end of life of the game, make half a billion euros !!!
I think it's enough !!!!!!
No need to try to sell us a game in kit like if it's Ikea.
Frontier is not Swedish !
