šŸ’° Don’t Give us Another Redundent Currency FD

It could possibly be very well I'm a spoiled brat. But the material grinding for the engeneers I find the most godawful grind I've ever had in a game. Now I don't mind some grinding and it doesn't have to be easy but the sheer number of different materials, which some are neigh impossible to find was for me almost reason to quit this game. The tricks I saw on YT made things a tad easier but not fun in any means, shape of form for me. Especially the data material, which seem to be mere computer programs. WFT happened to ctrl C - ctrl V in the future?!?
Like rightfully said: we'll have to wait and see but I call it quits if I have to scavenge for hours to find 75 ridiculous ingredients to make my "suit" have 5 minutes more oxygen supply f.e.

The games not for everyone, I think it’s understandable not to enjoy hunting materials, especially the first time when you don’t know where to go.

I actually enjoy gathering mats. I think the trick is to find a way of mixing it in with another activity so you’re killing two birds with one stone.

Guardian obelisk data is the only one that really irritates me. Wake scanning isn’t so hot either...

New currency - simple way of blocking players from acquiring "stuff" too fast, too early than designed. When everyone are new players then everyone needs credits. Seasoned players have credits, new one don't. New feature is added, seasoned players buy it day one, then complain "there is no content". With new type of currency both seasoned and new players need to work toward earning that new currency. And said content lasts longer.
I guess you new herešŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Go to YT and watch new player gets billionair in 2 days.

new Currency is fail move... period.
They better indeed lock behind some kind of licensing as it sugested elsewhere.... so you have to work for no matter how many credits you got.

The thing is you really don't need a g5 engineered ship for much at all. Hardcore PvP and AX stuff is the only time this would be necessary, and even then Thargoid hunting would only require a single ship to be done to this level. We all like completing something, but even g4 results in wholesale slaughter of the NPCs.

I imagine suits will be the same way- g1 equivalent to get a noticeable boost, g3 to kill everything, g5 and you're the Doom Slayer unless up against another player.

I've been playing the game almost 3 years and my first properly completed g5 ship happened 2 months ago.

as engineering does not use credits, it requires each player to spend time unlocking the engineers, gathering the required materials, and undertaking the modifications / experimental effects.

If you wanted a touch more realism in the game then there should be a nominal cost in credits to go along with the engineering costs. On the same sort of scale as fuel costs but just to cover wear and tear of workshops, access fees, etc. I realise that's adding extra coding effort but it would make the world more 'real'.

In a similar manner new spacesuits should cost a small amount of credits (e.g. 1000cr) along with any other requirements, as giving them away free goes counter to the prevailing feel of the game.

I'm quite happy that improving them uses a new system depending on how it's designed it may not feel much like a 'currency', on the other hand . I do think that blatantly adding a new currency (e.g. SuitBucks) would make for a crappy design.

Personally I would prefer this myself. I will live with however it's done but it boggles me that folk use the " anything goes it's just a game" to try to squash critique of the game.
Imo FD could still gate content so rich players don't get everything right away but at the same time not come up with scenarios where even a multi billionaire cant buy iron or sulphur.

Imo the core mechanics of ED are incredibly good but I do wish FD put more thought into the details.
ED:O is an opportunity for FD to improve on this and I hope they take it.
I like the rank/licencing idea, but I can also see it working well alongside credits and materials. I mixture of the three would work well. I think original engineers would have have been better if they had a credit price along with materials.

"You want that wiz bang gun with the extra big sight, it will cost you XXX credits, oh and I will need these materials to put it together, oh you want that upgrade, sorry mate, that's only for my regulars, work with me some more and maybe i'll consider it."

To me, that would be fine.

Whoa there its not that simple :)
Here is what I mean :-
Within a week of a reset I would be able to buy an FC. Because mining is broken, you can exploit wing missions and probably other things I cant remember atm.
They would first need to have fixed and tested all the current problems within the game, then reset, then police the credits ingame MUCH more vigorously than in the past.

Simply resetting the credits wont work.
He didn’t say reset the credits he said wipe the save that would put everybody back in a Sidewinder in the starter systems. Which will be crowded.

That is going to add a couple more days at least just to get the engineers unlocked so you can boost your ship enough to take advantage of all the get rich quick schemes you can remember.

It's not s big leap.

Either the new odyssey stuff is behind a new currency, or it will have to be monstrously expensive.

10 billion+ Credits for a pair of pants seem appropriate to anyone ?

If it is anything less, most players will have end tier stuff 20 minutes after odyssey launches.
Honestly a complete asset reset would be a better idea.

A reset! Are you all mad! Lol. Kiss goodbye to billions of credits so we don't have to grind suits mats etc...?
Sod that..
But if you all wanna be fragging around with jetpacks and phasers then that's ok too...just that some of us don't. So why should we be reset even though a likely default suit would do For us.
Seems drastic.
But no to a new currency too.
There will no doubt be a grind of one sort or another. Even with a reset.
Cmdrs out there with 100s of billions will be horrified.
One particular cmdr with an amassed fortune of I think it was 1.3 trillion credits, will have a stroke!

Wipe everyone's save.
I don't know if you are serious or not, but I could live with this. Though if Frontier were to do this, I think they should release an entirely new game - "Elite Dangerous 2", and then they wouldn't have to worry about backwards-compatibility and supporting all the legacy crap that plagues our current game.

You're actually stating exactly what I mean. I have enough "OCD" in me to want to finish what I started. Playing PvE only my goal is to outfit my gear as ridiculous as possible within a game. Only then I'm satisfied (enough). The Doom Slayer must cry for his mommy when facing me! I made a complete monster out of my Corvette, using Ex's guidance in it. I wasted 3 Anaconda's and a Mamba NPC interdictors yesterday within 5 minutes. And that's by far because I'm such a good fighter in this game. (-;

Like I said: I don't mind grinding and it doesn't have to be something easy. But I won't hunt for 50 different ingredients (my quick calculation of manufactored material) of 1 kind anymore.

What new currency are they adding to the game?
No-one knows.... But some think they do...
(Personally I just think it is new engineering mats to go with the alluded to suit engineers)

You don't speak for me so zip it with the almost certainly waffle.
He did say almost... but would have been nice if he listed the ones he didn't speak for :ROFLMAO:
( which, naturally, would be me also)

The hilarious thing about these threads is that whatever fdev have decided to do - it's done. They're not going to rip it all out and start again now. So there is no point worrying about it. But hey, if it keeps people from starting yet another CM4 thread :)
How many CMk4s do I need to trade for my suits Jetpack Efficiency G5 mod?

The ā€œeveryoneā€ that it’s ā€œnot forā€ just keeps growing and growing!

I'm in favor of an economy re-balance.

A major problem seems to be that the economy doesn't scale with progress.

I started at the first release and back then it was a good balance of income vs. ship, but much after the AspX/T6 the economy fails to scale proportionately, which is why everyone ended up mining.

Fix that, put new suits behind mats/rank, and we're good all-round, IMHO.

Nerfing/buffing random things isn't the way to fix the economy. It just skews things even more, and frankly is extremely annoying.

Fix it properly!
