Actually the sensible thing to do and something that would make sense would be to initiate a full scale war between the Federation and the Empire and split the credit economy into two. War devalues currency anyway and this would actually make sense.

That was meant to be beyond!
Personally I am ready for new content now after 3 years without much of note ,(a few bits but nothing major) and looking forward to beyond. I do hope we get plenty of improvements to the core.content however

FD may have used that open letter to delay content as a distraction but imo if would be incredibly weak minded of FD to cave to a minority of forumites if they truly felt their game was at a good enough quality but delayed anyway.
FD delayed only because they knew the game was not ready and they would not get away with releasing without hurting their brand.
ED has had heaps of delays over the years without any open letters

There are plenty who have no corresponding engineering recipe and nearly half sees far less use than others.

I don't know if you are serious or not, but I could live with this. Though if Frontier were to do this, I think they should release an entirely new game - "Elite Dangerous 2", and then they wouldn't have to worry about backwards-compatibility and supporting all the legacy crap that plagues our current game.

You hit the nail on the head there. Due to the whole "But I earned it!" rubbish, we have to deal with some ridiculous things from years past that just don't make sense. Prime example is those pesky legacy modules.

New game would have many benefits. Biggest one is the Cobra Mk IV could simply be put in the game and there'd be no ability to complain. Not that there is any now but you know.

Personally I would be fine with an Elite dangerous 2 starting from scratch with the game built from ground up to solve issues in the game now....... So long as the LTP carries over.... Because whilst I feel the game could benefit from a clean slate, equally a lot of LTPnsales was.made on the pledge that ED is the last elite game and is to be continually built on with multiple expansions.

It's useless, pointless thing you would use in five minutes between moving from a cobra mk3 to an Asp.

This whole credit balance thing is just a load of hogwash IMO. FD should just release content and let people play period, this idea they have of wanting to "stretch tings out" is tired and old and just a sign of poor work in that they try and make this more mmo like when the game is really more single player like.

In the end there are just far too many people obsessed with ED so it wont be long before they are rolling in this new currecny too...the only thing all these new currency does, as well as this balancing creds or if they make things more expensive (to try and drain creds from older players) does is make things harder for new peeps though this last bit is less of an issue I think.

Frankly idc but lets face it, it's just a futile attempt to hide the fact that content is far too slow incoming.

I have a slightly different idea; if something neww needs to be bought have them cost a %%% of what the CMDR owns. Now you have a Cr. sink for the rich and an affordable commodity for those who don't hunt money.

Just to interject, I don't think there was ever any talk of a new "hard" currency like Credits. Rather, new engineering materials specific to Odyssey. But, from a game mechanics perspective, it's a currency. You earn it by doing something and you spend it on something else.
