Don’t Nerf Mining, Buff Everything Else

Again I am missing your point.
Are you saying that all games should follow the same formula and there is no place for niche games to do things a little different?
The entire reason ED was KSed and self published was (if you believe the Devs) not to make them more money but to allow them to make the game they wanted free from the shackles of a publisher who would want cookie cutter features.
Am on a (very rubbish) phone but David Braban covered this very issue pre release in a video where he said it was vital there was not a meta earner which made huge amounts of cash undermining the rest of the game. Mining was even the example he used.
He also said that ED was a game he planned people to play for over a decade. It was never meant to be a game which showed off her jewels in a handful of hrs.
Nope I was useing another game as an example of replay ability

If you want to work day and night for virtual items that’s cool and respectable. but elite isn’t that game .its for the everyday joe people who want a fleet carrier befor or they die. nothing in this game is hard core like eve or wow
Not anymore, since, you know, money earning seriously got out of balance.

It’s to hard to pay the weekly fee, with out mining or a profit buff
To be honest I do agree with you here. For a game which does not allow you to make offline profits by setting up NPC trade routes etc like the X games I personally don't agree with offline running costs either. IF o had a choice of making my (imaginary) fleet carrier non persistent and only visible in my own PG but with no fees OR persistent in open with fees, it would be an easy call.
It's not the earnings per se tho it is the fact I don't appreciate being blackmailed to play. If I want to put the game down for 6 months I don't want to be penalised for it.
But that is not how FD chose to go

I actually like the idea of upkeep and I'd love it if it applied to all of our ships, it gives much more immersion I feel.
I do wonder though, with fleet carriers, if there is or will be in time a viable economy to maintain the upkeep from NPC interactions.

Maybe I'm redditing wrong, but I really struggle with the messy layout in reddit. It puts me off every time I visit the site. This forum is actually the most functionally advanced (and pleasant to use) that I've come across.
It might just be me but I think the forum has a good layout and bad user tools

I can’t tell if he is trolling me or not 🤨

Sure but as I mentioned above , as did others, Elite doesn't end.
It's a different concept to games that end.
If you're comparing open ended sandbox MMO like Elite to SP FPS, then you really have no clue what you're talking about.
They comparison are valid , they are both games , both have goals , both have replay ability, I don’t see your problem other than not seeing the facts I showed you and proved
